Looks like she is in Deadhorse ... UCC done! Check it off the list.

Just the return now :)

Coldfoot weather: 44 to 54 with showers ... Burr!
Would assume that spot is just about to start heading north again. You go girl!
Deadhorse had a wicked wind coming off the bay when I was there. I don't know if that is typical or not, but it was cold and windy for me.

Last stretch is boring for sure. As I recall just north of Coldfoot was a nice stretch of pavement that lured you into a false sense of security, then would toss you into the standing position with

its frost heaves and dips.

Oh and don't expect a quick departure. The motel in Deadhorse is expensive, but it has a great cafeteria that has all you can eat food free with a stay there. (You can even take it to your room!)

After eating out of a tank bag for 5 days, a rider can get their money's worth!

SHE MADE IT!!!!!!! To the halfway point, that is.
Welcome to the Northern limits of your ride. She's doing John's memory proud!

By the rules, would it be IBA legal to ride your bike to fairbanks, rent a KLR to get to deadhorse and back then finish with your FJR?

The rules state: "You must ride the same motorcycle for the entirety of the ride, NO SWAPPING of motorcycles allowed."

So your answer would be "No".

The FJR is fine on this ride. There is a good feeling left inside, after passing dual sport riders on the Haul Rd. Just make sure you spend time at

the car wash in Fairbanks afterwards.

And yes, she is standing up on the pegs trying to keep the bike upright in the slime on the road. She did survive the slime but I think a frost heave put her down for a minute or two.

Too get a real look at what she is doing, go to Kate's spot and enlarge it until you can see both Deadhorse and Key West.

GO KATE GO!

Pictures like this should motivate others to do the ride. Here is a tiny (In stature) girl with only 3 years experience riding, knocking out a huge ride.
She is quite comfortable standing on the pegs. She was doing this quite often riding north in the keys. I think it might be a case of stretching/seat issues. Either way she is kicking this ride in the teeth.

Ride On Kate !!!
