hey,

I was out for a little ride this after noon to get some lunch go see my Tattoo Artist and pick up some amsoil synthetic ( planned on swithching at 3500, am at 3400)

in the shop for 10 min and came out to find my bike on it's side!!!!

right side lower fairing scratched and gouged to hell,,, edge of upper fairing scratched and bottom of the mirror gouged up also,,,, left side on the frame cover looks like a rubber bumper contact,,

I am sooo p***ed off!!!

why would someone just drive away????

maybe it's because I might have beaten the crap out of them!!!!!

I have been riding for a long time,, and nothing like this has ever happened to any bike I have owned,, I can't even remember anyone else that this has happened to!!!

do I report this to the insurance wheesels??

btw I have a custom paint job,,, it's f####d up !!!!

it just goes to show that cage drivers do not even see us!!

even parked ,, "oh it's just a motorcycle"

ready to kill!!!!!!!!!

Was it windy? Was the surface flat? It's been noted before that the angle of the bike is a bit more upright than most people prefer using the stock sidestand... even making a few people file down the tang to get a bit more lean.

That really sucks to have to exit the store to find your bike on it's side... I've dropped mine at a gas station pump in the past, and know how bad it feels. Depending on the amount of damage, and your coverage limits, you may want to give your insurance agent a call...

Yes, report it to local LEO's as a hit and run and also to your insurance thieves

so they can fix it.

Put up signs in the shop....someone prolly saw something

Can't help more than that

Good luck

Larry

ok,,

as Paul Harvey would have said,

this is the rest of the story,,

called the insurance co.

they sent an ajuster over,,, yes ,, today ,,

he had called the dealership to set up an apointment for me to take the bike in to be repaired before he even saw the damage,,

everything is covered,,

taking it in tomorrow,,

replacing right lower and upper fairing

mirror

bar end

front break lever

rear brake peddle and shaft

right exhaust can

indicator assembly

side case lid

and to my suprise they will pay for my custom paint job to be re done

:D :D :D :D

Awesome! Hope they don't jack up your premium to compensate.... Glad to hear you'll get back to where it was.... :)

Holly cow....that's service. You had better post the name of your insurance company. With service like that we should all give them our bussiness.

One can only hope that includes the POS who hit yer scooter. Nice of the insurance company to pony up for all the repairs tho.

hit the insurance company up for as much as you can . make sure the local guy doing the damage right up inflates everything so you do not have to pay anything out of your pocket and triple check the bike out just last week i myself and the local guy who did the look over missed a large scrach on the centerstand and had to point it out to the adjuster . who ever tiped it over will get theres in the long run .

Definetly a Nightmare! One of the dreads. Get some sliders and it would minimize some damage. TJ :assasin:

Save the money you'd spend on the pricey oil and get some sliders. There have been several posts here and other boards where owners say the sliders do a remarkable job of preserving the plastic in a situation just like yours.

I just got off the phone with the adjuster,,,

I can pick up the cheque tomorrow :D :D

$2600 damage including the paint job

now I just have to wait for the parts to be ordered and arrive!!!

does anyone know how long to get the fairing pieces ???

btw I had ordered the MOKO sliders last week,,,,, and got an e mail back from bikejohnny saying they would be here 10 days from shipping ,,, looks like next week ,,

"that which does not kill me,,

better start running"

What happened to your bike has always been one of my worst fears. (The first is being on the bike when it happens). I hate being out of sight of my bike for very long and I avoid places like malls etc. I'd like to know later on if your ins gets jacked up to the moon. I got into a small fender bender in my car a few years ago and did $1600.00 in damage to my car and less than $500.00 to other one which was a rental and boy did I pay for it!!! Oh, my ins co. was right there to pick up the tab and then a few months later my ins premium doubled and even tripled on all my vehicles. This was with Liberty Mutual.

Insurance companies are not in business to lose money. If you make a claim you will eventually pay for it and much more. Don't forget that they have to pay all of their expenses: salaries, commissions, benefits, office space, and etc. as well as all claims and then make a profit for the stock holders. All that comes out of your premiums. I'm not saying that you shouldn't collect if you have a valid claim, just that you never come out ahead.
