I am in Anaheim for a few days and have just lined up a Connie 14 to rent for the day Saturday. Anyone interested in getting together and showing me some roads? If not, some route ideas would be great as I have never been to this area before.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi nitelife,

Welcome to SoCal. I have a tennis tournament to play on Saturday, so can't make it, but hopefully some of the other guys will jump in. There are a lot of FJR riders here!

I don't know any special places in Anaheim (not that there aren't any!). If you have the time, the Angeles Crest (highway 2) just north of Glendale is a beautiful (if very popular) ride with mountainous scenery, nice twisty roads and with a little map reading, many side roads with sweepers, straight-aways and not that many cars or bikes. I almost bought the Connie 14, but after riding the FJR I am much happier! I rode a Kawi ZZR 1200 for 3 years (35K miles) and loved it - I was all set to get the C14, but after a test ride, I realized I liked the FJR better - easier to handle, better laid out as far as the side cases, mirrors, ease of getting off and on, etc. Also suspension seems better to me on the FJR along with a very neutral balanced feel in the corners. The C14 I rode tended to fall into corners at a certain point which I didn't care for. I want the bike to go when I want it to. Also, while you're in Anaheim, there is Irv Seaver BMW. If you are at all interested in a Beemer, they usually have a great selection of used (and new) bikes which can be demoed. It's quite a nice shop and the sales people are not pushy. Irv's is on Katella, east off I-5 north.

I hope you have a great time in sunny southern cal - you should have good weather!

Best,

Terry :)

Bummer dude Saturday is the one day i can't ride as i have a honey dew list, we are riding tomorrow to Palm Springs but i am sure that does not help.

The rental place recommended I ride Ortega Highway. Any comments on this road? I have the bike from 7am to 7pm. I have also heard good things about the roads around the ROCK store. Angeles Crest is also on my list. Isn't part of that closed? Probably be snow at Big Bear, huh?

Please give me some feedback here. I only have 12 hours to check out the area roads.

Thanks,

Larry

:yahoo:

07:00 to 7pm Unlimited miles??? Well DAMN get out of the City "FAST!!" You can be in Santa Barbra in 90min; get up to the 210 north to hwy 126 or Frazer pk off I5; Weather is GREAT; put 3-400mi on the BEAST>

Good Luck & have FUN!! I'll be Riding to OJAI & Lunch on (hwy33) WOLF Lodge (Resturant) 07FJR & friends!

ENJOY!! WOW!! Someone else's BIKE!

Ortega Highway is very scenic ... but there is A LOT of traffic. Nevertheless, I think it's worth a ride.

Ortega is crowded and is under going construction.

I recomend Glendora Mountain Rd. It is close to you and there are fewer cops out that way.

Thanks for the invite. I had a blast! You guys are lucky to have this beautiful land to ride in. Phil was an outstanding tour guide. The Malibu hills are great.

You better lay off them wheelies or your gonna break something :D :D :D

Can't wait to see the video!
