Say all you want about California, but the freedom to keep moving in traffic like that is pure heaven (and not nearly as dangerous as it looks minus those few close calls) :)

You should see some of the crazy **** they call "lane splitting" in Europe.

Nice video Jdog!

P.S. TWN should be here any minute to change all splitting references to sharing

Edit: After watching it a couple more times I don't think the CHP will adopt your video for the MSF. Pretty close & fast in a few parts, especially that F150 & white minivan at the beginning of the video...

Apparently TWN was right behind us somewhere, or so he says. Actually I think he was still getting gas while we were in Ventura.

It sure was fun, and less dangerous than Tepusquet canyon with all it's slippery black snakes.

Kick-*** stuff. I'm inspired to go split right now just cuz I can.

Ahhh, never mind. It's too damn hot out.

I thought I saw a sign for TWN's hometown....waaaay back at the beginning? Actually, the video looks very similar to a normal commute home. Well, 'cept I don't ride quite as close as you guys...yewer waaay bedder then me.

Fairlaner, that video reminded me of you!!!!!!

If you're not a Mank, you're a ****!

It's called "Filtering" when Richard does it, being English and all. The rest of us lane split! :clapping:

Lane splitting is great here in CA when the flow gets bogged down. Gotta be careful over those lane reflectors and activate your hair-trigger brake response. Works great at traffic lights too!

Great video, Jdog! Thanks for sharing. Any luck recovering the rest of the day's events?

Well Jon it probably reminded you of me because it was me, or someone that looks a lot like me.

And FYI we never ride like that in the fine city of Orange.

And Barry the only filters I know are on the end of my Marlboro's.

I would ordinarily go Skyway here, but JDog is a 'special' case. As such, my lecture would prove fruitless... Yo, Dog! The short bus is leaving! :****:

Nope. I went through town after our last stop. I prolly beat you to Linden Ave!

Keyrectamundo! 3:22 in, they pass right by my exit and not too far from my house... like one block.

*******, though. Way too slow for me! :bleh:

Sorry, looks totally foolish to me. Grabbing the right hand lane, passing in the shoulder zone, zooming across back into 1/2 position, splitting at way more than 10+ moving traffic... ..stupid... :glare:

IMHO of course, to each his own. We all have our personal margins. Mine might be closer to the edge in certain areas than this, but this is waay to 'close' for me. Guess it's all a comfort thing.

Don't get me wrong, you're great guyz.. but keep that up and soon we'll be reading about you in the obits.

Signed,

Bummer-Dude-Dcarver who is very happy he doesn't have to play that game.

Also it come down to what the officer thinks is safe. I would be writing them both a greenie.

Edit: That is if I could catch them. Good film all in all Jdog.

Hey -I recognize those tail lights, at least from a distance. One of my first experiences of lane splitting was in Fairlaner's wake. To his credit, he was kind enough to slow down every now and again to let me catch up.

I'm practicing some lane splitting skills on my little Ninja, but only in stopped or near stopped traffic.

On the way home from work tonight, I wished I had the ability to 'filter' to the front of the line at each signal, but the BMW Z3 just isn't cut out for such behavior.

Don I thought the video looked kinda slow, I think he slowed the video down a little right Jeff!!!!!!!!!

Richard

I don't have a problem with the practice, but going outside (splitting along the solid lines) *is* outright illegal. The CHP rep I quizzed about this said between two lanes of traffic = OK. Outside one lane of traffic along any solid line = No No = Ticket.

Of course, he also said splitting at any speed faster than 25-30mph "jam crawl" is bait for a ticket as well...

I noticed you snipped out the part where you BLEW by me, being all safe and boring. I saw these 2 hooligans blast by...got the "me too" syndrome for a while, but felt they were getting too bold for my blood about the time they passed that first set of HD riders and backed off.
