Ok WTF I was on the 118 in my big ol work truck and a car in the left lane next to me. We all were going around 70 ish cars in front good distance between us and we has a bike cop pass in between us and pass a few more at high speeds. NO LIGHT OR SIREN, and he was curising. Now how can expect us to follow the rules when our finest are breaking them...

hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm One to think on..

You mean you're not supposed to go up between cars when they're going [only] 70 mph....? :glare: I never have, myself. But...have you?

Ummmmm may be once or twice.

Also it come down to what the officer thinks is safe. I would be writing them both a greenie.
Perhaps I am officially "old" now, because I would be applauding you if you gave them a couple greenies.... not a doubt in my mind that a fair portion of that vid wasn't "lane-sharing" whatsoever; y'all were just being a couple of hoons on the road, contributing to that "image" the public has of all 2-wheeled hooliganism.

In other words.... you're part of the problem, gentlemen. I mean, c'mon.... passing on the right? Please. :glare:

Edit: That is if I could catch them. Good film all in all Jdog.
Well, this is true enough, I suppose. It was good film of y'all's public road antics.... I didn't look close enough, but I ASSume you can't read any FJR license plates, right.....

I hear these days that cops might bust you for an online video that clearly identifies you committing an act of "hooliganism" (gunny WC).

better hide the evidence :)

Try that down here in Houston traffic and you would quickly find out what either the rear bumper or the right/left front fender of an F-250 Dually diesel truck feels like because they would not put up with that crap for a second.

"Drivers" down here don't like people passing them within a lane or between.

Who cares? We are not talking about Texas. We're talking about Cali, where the practice is commonplace and not illegal. Besides, outside of those emergency lane maneuvers - which I wouldn't undertake - not much else in that video is an uncommon practice here. As a matter of opinion (v. fact), I would wager that most LEO's wouldn't even flinch at that action...

Must suck having to suck diesel fumes in 1000 heat...

Have any of you guys ever ripped off one of your side cases going through those tight spots?

We don't share lanes here in Ga. so that lane sharing is foreign to me.

Looks a little dangerous at some of the speeds you fellows were going.

I'd hate to be doing those manuevers and come up on some pissed off cowboy or californy redneck who just decided to pop his door open as a poor innocent motorcyclist came lane sharing by.

Are incidents between cages and MC's common?

Well I have been lane splitting (sharing) like that since I was a messenger back in 89, as of yet (touch wood) I have never had a problem, but I did get a ticket for it once back in 90.

Anyway guys I am off to the UK for a week ( and a reallity check) I will be keeping an eye you all so behave yourselves.

Awesome Vid JD, but vids like these will just be used against us by the un baptized. And since at least some of our states, like mine, are considering this I hope thems thats got the powers dont see this stuff. I can tell you that we have waaaay enough on our hands here in Tejas just trying to keep the next yuppie wannabe in his/her Truck/SUV from creaming us. Instead of one news story a day about a motorcyclist dying, we'll have two or three cuz these folks wont even yield to each other. Even if I could I'm not sure I would lane-split here in the land of bushes...these vatos play mean !!! Great Video though !!! Thanks.

Huh? Texas? What? Looks like you almost had your chance to run over some bikers on yer Dually. --->> Lane Splitting- Texas

I just got back from my first visit to Cali and "lane-sharing". What a privledge to have that option!! I saw a few pass on the right and some weave when the flow of traffic was already at 45mph. I didnt participate in that, however when its hot out, and everyone is sitting in a standstill during rush-hour, it becomes the greatest law in the land!! Here in the Dc metro area getting stuck in summertime traffic can just about kill a man on a bike...or should i say "cook" a man on a bike. Great law...but id be damn sure i wouldnt risk ruining it for everyone...

Beleave it or not NO.... the Front camera was being used had a 6mm lens and made the cars look alot close then they really were..even the truck in the begining i had room i slowed just a tad when the car came up quickly on the right side.

I was listening one time out in LA to a couple of Goldwing riders they were behind me and i heard one guy say he hit someone... But if you look back good luck to you.

Nope - not judging or preaching. I totally believe that what we do is preserving perhaps the last bastion of individualism left. And, I totally agree with the "roll the throttle to get out of this now". But all that's not what this looked like. If you are constantly rolling the throttle to squeeze out of situations then I believe you should examine your riiding technique. This strategy is for "emergencies/exegencies" - not common riding technique. Again, I am less concerned about the person riding the bike than I am about what happens when someone else is "spooked" by what's happening around them, and they get hurt (or worse).
I'd have to agree with TWN. If it looks like preaching, smells like preaching, it's preaching. Relabel it however you want. You disagree. Enough said. Calling it something else doesn't change how we perceive it. Live...and let live...

You can't applaud anyone, you tore your bicep while your mount crashed, standing still.

I hear they're selling used Gold Wings plenty cheap, gramps

In all seriousness, let he who is without any past guilt throw the first stone. Otherwise....we have a hypocritical alert....hypocritical alert....please proceed to the nearest "WTF Get Off Your Age-Enhanced High Horse" exit and turn in your keys...
