Las Vegas area Hotels

Hey Guys and Gals,

I'm traveling from Florida to South Lake Tahoe the end of May and will be spending one night in the Las Vegas area. I had penciled in Indian Springs for a stop over but am having a hard time finding a Hotel there. Every web site directs me to Las Vegas. Most of the major hotels offer pretty good rates ($40 - $60 range), but will I find: 1) a secure place to park my FJR? 2) a quiet room where I can get some good rest? Where is the "safest part" of sin City? The only thing I know about Vegas is what I've seen on the tube. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Send GunMD an PM. He's pretty knowledgeable on Vegas. There are a few forum members who live in Vegas, but I don't see them posting too often.

If you were asking how to best lose money in Vegas, I could help you. However, I rarely sleep when down there so I'm not too good with the hotels... :blink:

indian springs has one little simple motel ...not much. A little casino/bar/diner with killer patty-melts. these Patty melts, the young girls working the diner counter and the fun of Old Moe can make it a good stop.. Pretty much just cater to the military base there.

Not sure how/why you picked indian springs, it's not a common 'destination'. If you want to stay outside of vegas I can give you a few good hints. Vegas is pretty good value now-a-days so wonder why not staying in town? Fun, safe and good deals ...not to mention if you've never been there you're crazy not to take it in.

If you want peace and quiet....don't get a room on the back side of the New York, New York resort. Every 5 minutes you hear the people on the roller coaster scream going down the first big hill. :blink:

Indian Springs worked out in mileage, I was a little afraid of the Big City, but it sounds like I'll be giving it a try, Thanks RenoJohn

You could always stay at a "non-gaming" hotel. There's a Marriot Residence Inn and a Courtyard directly across from the Las Vegas Convention Center on Paradise, both are quiet and I am sure you coud get a room in either where you could practically park the bike right outside the door. Both also have gate operated parking areas.

There's also quite a few "regular" hotels in the Henderson area.

If you're heading out towards Indian Springs (and points north), there is Santa Fe Station (off of 95 and Rancho) or the new Aliante Station (off of the 215 beltway), both are smaller casino/hotels.

There is also an RV park in Indian Springs, if you're inclined to camp instead.

And only 1/4 mile from my house.

I'm not really sure what to offer you in terms of "safe place" to park the bike. I've never really parked anyplace other than my own garage so it's tough to say.

I lived there for 8+ years, moving away this last July. Do you want a place to rest your head, or a place in the tourist corridor where you can enjoy what 'vegas has to offer?

If you're looking for a quick, peaceful night sleep, I'd second the Silverton - has some Las Vegas flair, easy to find, in view of "the strip", and meets your cost requirement. Parking is all ground parking so be sure to have a cover for your bike.

If you want a quick exit out of town then head on through most of town to Santa Fe Station. It's on the NW side of town, is clean, cheap, and has everything in the hotel that you'd need (food, bowling, movies, ice skating, etc...). I'd have no problem sending my family to either The Silverton or Santa Fe Station for their needs. Stanta Fe Station has covered motorcycle designated parking near the main entrance to the casino from the parking garage (a nice bonus).

On the strip in that price range.... hmmm.... Try Bally's or the Tropicana. Nice location, moderate accommodations, moderate price.

The Silverton has been around for quite a long time but recently expanded to add Bass Pro Shops, some new rooms, and relocated their RV park.

They also just opened a new parking structure, but I don't know what (if any) provisions they have specifically for motorcycles.

I'd agree with the Santa Fe, the new Aliante Station, or Red Rock. All off the strip, so without the noise and traffic, yet on the 215 or business 95 for access. Had friends on bikes stay at Santa Fe with no problems a few months back.

Yep, they have a covered, multi level parking structure now, but I haven't stayed there since all of that new stuff came to be. They have a pretty good mexican food place (name escapes me) too.

I've booked a room at the Silverton. Looks like just what I had in mind. Thanks to all of you guys for steering me in the right direction.
