I just checked mileage from Marlinton to New River Gorge... 90 miles. There's a good lodge in Richwood. If we make New River Gorge one of our targets, maybe we should look at lodging there.

Bob, heard anything back from OCI or Watoga?

OCI peak rates apply for both weekends. I couldn't get through to Watoga yesterday. I will try again this afternoon. I just sent a request to the Four Seasons Lodge in Richwood. They have an efficiency appartment that can sleep 6 as well as other rooms.

Four Seasons efficiency is $150 a night. For 6 people that would be $50 each for the weekend. Full kitchen facility.

Four Seasons sounds pretty damn good... yunguns in the bunk beds if they have them.

OCI... I was perusing their website yesterday. It irks me that they can make the "Peak Season" whenever they want. They don't even post a schedule telling when the peak season is... just whenever they want. shall we make a reservation @ 4SL? I have AAA if they accept it.

No efficiencies available on that weekend. They have rooms with 2 double beds available. Still don't have a commitment from Spanky.

If this is in agreement with all, I'm calling to make a reservation tomorrow. It is likely that I will be looking for a roomate, also. If there are other ideas about lodging, please disclose.

Word to the wise... if you plan to attend this meet, make your reservations very, very soon. Even if in doubt that you'll be able to make it, make your reservation. When making my reservation I asked about cancellation policy. Its a 24 hour policy.

They are getting close to selling out. There are still rooms... only 2 doubles left, a couple of queen rooms & a couple of king rooms... so, make your reservations now.

I just had something called to my attention. The 19th is Bridge Day https://www.officialbridgeday.com/ in New River Gorge. I think the weekend is good... but maybe we should be changing our riding area back to whence we came... aka Old Clark Inn.

If anyone has better ideas please share.

I concur. Just checked on availability at OCI. Here is the response:

Hi Bob and Heidi,
Good to here from you, hope you had a good riding season so far.
As of today all rooms are available except the room with 2 beds and a private bath so that would make the 6 and 4 bed suite also unavailable. Don't know if you have been here that time of year but all weekends in October are peak with peak rates, policies and advance payments (via on line form). 3rd floor is available as a suite only and will include the bath up there. Check the web site for room details and rates. We are to close to that weekend to hold any rooms with out a reservation so let us know as soon as you can.

I vote OCI.
