In an effort to keep my new years resolution , to ride more ,,I just got a good pair of real leather gloves ..Elkskin from Aerostich ... what is the best stuff, you have used to to rub into the leather to make it feel, butters smooth for years and years to come ? I've been using mink oil on my boots ,seems to works . Do you guys have any thing else that you like to use ??

My favorite. Can't say it's technically better than anything else out there but it's worked nicely for me. Shop around for pricing.

Lexol. Id never use anything else on soft leather. For hard leather, such as holsters and boots, I use shoe polish. Neutral if the item isnt black or dark brown.

I second the motion for mink oil, and apply it annually to my baseball softball glove and riding gloves.

But really, if Aerostich is recommending something, THAT would be my first choice.

I've had a few race suits made by the legendary Barnacle Bill over the years and he recommends skin lotion. Yes, the same thing you use on your hide. I've been using it for ages and it works great. If it works on my skin, it'll work on dead cow or kangaroo skin as well. Plus, you most likely already have some at home.

The lotion works great, guys. Bill has a fantastic reputation in the WERA circle for making and repairing suits that guys trust their own hides to. Hes a leather genius, IMHO. Try it; youll use it from now on.

Level 5 wrong for Buffalo Bill, or level 5 wrong for Mad German?
