I have to wonder if any of these motorcyclists were wearing gear. I would assume not. Like the 12-year-old girl; as tragic as that was, the grandfather shouldn't have let her ride without getting a full-face helmet at minimum for her, and ideally whatever gear he can find that would fit her, but I doubt she was wearing anything at all besides normal clothes.

I've had a car pull in front of me when I was initially going 45 mph on a Ninja 650R. I locked up the brakes but managed to slow down a bit before hitting him; it's possible I was as slow as 20-25 mph (the other guy was nearly still though and was not oncoming) but I've no idea really. Anyway I was totally uninjured besides a couple of bruised muscles that healed in a week on their own. ATGATT is important.

Unfortunately yes, in this particular case both were wearing helmets, gloves and jackets.

Of course it was a Harley so he 'tried to lay'er down'. I do know that they rode together often, did wear helmets and jackets. The other report said the camper crossed the center-line so I don't know which is accurate at this point. The results are the same. Reporting on this kind of stuff is what it is and isn't always accurate.

I have not spoken to anyone in the family, I did not know them that well, but my parents did. The daughter of the man worked for my mom.

It's just sad, but has me rethinking riding with my kids.

I ride the same way I drive.

Like EVERYONE'S trying to kill me. Expect stupidity. Cheer and wave when they follow the law.

Trust no one. NEVER let your guard down. Keep an eye out 360 degrees at ALL times. Plan your escape routes BEFORE you need them.

My kids still give me a hard time when I slow down and look both ways when going through a green light at an intersection.

It's all about staying alive.....

Ride safe folks, and assume that they don't see you. On the evidence, they don't. :sigh:
I don't like this phrase.
Ride like your *** is worth money. They're trying to kill you.

And after I post that I see rushes just said the same thing. :)

Every day while driving (my occupation) and when commuting home. Drivers are still talking on the cell phone or texting....to me this should be classified as driving while impaired. I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.
