My member picture is of my right leg. It was "insta-fried" after my first long ride on my brand new 2015 1300AC. Yamaha, in their cost cutting wisdom, has not only done away with the rear fender flap to keep debris off the monoshock, eliminated the compression and rebound damper adjustment hardware from the left fork, and other things I havn't found yet over the 2013 model. They eliminated the heat shield from the header to muffler area. It still exisists on the right hand side but is gone on the left. Maybe they never had one. But I can tell you this. If you take your riding pants off on a hot day and try to put the bike up on the centerstand without protection, you'll very likely end up like my picture. I should have known something was wrong when I took dleivery. I needed to have the salesman clean the setup mechanics burned shoe debris from that section of red hot, epxosed pipe. BEWARE!! That really hurts!!

I'm not sure how you managed that! My Gen II has no heat shields and I have never come remotely close to burning my leg on the pipe when raising onto the centerstand. Were you doing this standing at the side of the bike (as I do) or attempting to do it while seated on the bike (I have seen this done but certainly wouldn't recommend it)?

Tried to like zilla.. but you know how **** is here.

You can't be disrespectin the drool cup gang that now rulez here

I thought the exhaust on the V-star was on the right hand side and did not think it had a center stand. Silly me for thinking that a topic in "FJR Specific Discussion" sub-forum would relate to an FJR. (I wasn't aware of the AC designation but assumed that it was a California A Model.)

Edit: Perhaps the original poster will return and enlighten us!

Ignore my post, After re-reading the OP thread he did burn his leg on a FJR exhaust pipe. Your assumption of a Cali bike is correct I believe. Anyway I have yet to burn myself on my un heat shielded bike. Shoes maybe but then again I am always ATGATT.

Considering how much easier it is to get a Gen3 on the centerstand and the fact that exhaust pipes get hot...

I hate to hurt the OP's feelings but I really think Bustanut might have the right answer. I just don't see how Yamaha can engineer out these kinds of things.

Can't say I've ever encountered this on four FJRs, including my new-to-me '15A. GEN III snaps up on the center stand compared to previous years...

NEPRT for the FNG.

At least he got that out of the way.....unlike his leg. :)

Poor sucker tries to warn everybody about a personal safety hazard and look what you mean S.O.B.s do to him. Don't let it get you down, curnseye (whatever that means). It's a rite of initiation.

Anybody else remember when the oval burn scars on our legs identified us all as riders, way back then?

(Pretty funny tho, Barry.)

I've read this entire thread at least six times, and I still can't figure it out.

1. OP says he just returned from riding his "brand new 2015 1300AC" (a V-twin cruiser according to the googles)

2. OP claims he burned his leg getting the bike up on the centerstand (provides avatar pic as evidence. ouch, I feel your feels!)

3. OP talks about the heat shield remaining on the right header pipe, but not on the left (my 2011 never had a heat shield on either header, AND the 1300 AC has two linked pipes on the right. Does it even have a centre stand?)

4. Gotta say I've never come close to burning my leg on either of my fjr's headers. (once burned my right ankle a bit on an old Honda trail 90)

5. Wut Da Fuq?
