Leg Burn

I have a 2015 ES model and I've burned my leg twice. Both times wearing shorts of course. Once at the gas station and once putting it up on the centerstand. I was thinking about wrapping the exhaust/muffler with some header wrap.
I guess since the O.P. disappeared, you'll have to do as the sacrificial lamb...What a maroon! First for wearing shorts on a FJR, second for burning your leg. Hopefully the results are not as graphic as the original.
I'll gladly step up and be the new sacrificial lamb. I ain't skerrd. I also sometimes ride without a helmet and gloves. In 110° Phoenix heat, I'll take my chances.

Good deal. I have ridden in shorts. . (confession). Back when I owned a cruiser, I rode out Wentworth Springs Road and did a real ride that way, and in spite of the exhaust by my right knee did not end up with a burn. The bike did give a neighbor woman a nasty burn that looked like the O.P. avatar on the inside of the calf. That's when I decided no more shorts and no more passengers..

So you believe somehow that riding without clothing on when it is 110 degrees ambient is cooler?

Are you aware that your body internal temperature is 98.6 degrees F and that trying to cool it with 110F air is in vain?

Perhaps you opted to skip physics class in high school?

Are you sure the burn was from the bike's exhaust?

Maybe it was from the vigorous leg humping you gave her after the ride?

Oh! I know the difference between an exhaust burn and a friction burn. Don Stanley is the champion of friction burns.

I didn't say I don't ride without clothes on. That's just plain silly. The seat would burn my arse in that case.

OP is just lurking for now. I hope eventually he will join in the teasing. Lets face it he has earned his entry patch.
No hard feelings i hope,

Dave
I agree that the OP has earned his prospect patch. For one thing, that burn looks wicked painful and I sincerely hope it's healing well. He should also be somewhat proud that his thread is 5 pages long and still has a head of steam.

(Jeez, WheatonFJR, I don't want to know how anyone could possibly burn their **** on a hot muffler, but the thought makes me admire your imagination.)
I don't know why but bustanut joker comes to mind.

GOSH DARN, I'm confused if this thread should be merged with Smokers... Let's talk about it. ;)

Hey Fred, that's not Physics. That's Thermal Dynamics. Very few schools offered that back in the day.

Still not getting how one can burn one's leg putting the bike on the center stand. Gotta have really short feet, or really fat ankles?

My size 10s and, (I think), fairly average sized ankles provide lots of clearance.

I'd install beer can shields anyway, just for the awesomeness factor.

I'm telling you, one of you fabrication types could make a bazillion dollars marketing this device!

Reincarnating this because it is one of the funniest threads I have read. I think Fry-Boy (Lol) had the bike fall on him in the process. Don't see how. I always use my left foot, left hand on the bars, right hand on the passenger grab rail and straighten my leg. Gen2 goes up easy. Then again, I have never tried that on the banking of the Daytona track........
