Very fun! Ah, it's JP! So you think the 30s shoot farther than the 60s? I didn't see that

Hey JP - Yeah, it's the other JP

My eyes and brain interpret the light to shoot further on the 30's vs the 60's. But, what I suspect is the case, is that the 60's throw so much light "pollution" in the near field , that your eyes can't adjust for way out. So, I think both of these lights throw light as far or farther out than the optimus LED's, but due to the pattern it's not evident. After "training" my eyes to adapt to this situation, I can see way out at night. You just have to not let yourself get blinded by the light in close. But there is easily 3-4 lumens of light out past 1000 feet (in my opinion, not measured in any scientific way). Looking forward to a head to head in big sky, it will put all the guesses to rest. :) .

Iggy, you can check them out at ITU if you like next weekend.
Mmmmmm, light.
Cool. There's some inky-black opportunities in that country and hugely looking forward to the fine hospitality and entertainment Torters are going to shower on us.

I'm not into the ADV's like a zealot or anything....I just found they were a great price point and in the LED realm. I think LEDs in general aren't the most ideal on channeling light...maybe the Cyclops are better. My main point of experience is that LEDs are a better platform than HIDs these days.

They are the only LEDs I've seen channel. I totally agree.

JP, remember that I have ADV 60s and I'm telling ya, single well focus Cree goes FARTHER. Lol

I say Sunday so I don't have to stress about the big light off!

I say Thursday, otherwise the stress of the light off will mess up my rally

And I agree, a single focused cree xml t6/u6 might go farther than 4 of the same in a smaller format. Cramming four of them behind small reflectors yields a flood beam that just won't go as far. The spots don't have as strong LEDs (probably Cree XPG series), but they are smaller LEDs that can yield a true spot beam in the smaller format. Anyway, enough LED talk, we'll know for sure next week, and post up for everyone else's benefit. Like I said, I have no problem eating a big plate of humble pie :)
