The IBA event list for 2013 has added this ride from "Hoagy's Heroes".

I owe my addition to Hoagy, for it started about 3 years ago when he ran a 100CCC event that

put the hook in my mouth. It has been downhill ever since. ;)

Now the SS2000 gold looks to be a good shake down ride for a July ride that I might try.

This event offers many different rides, so check out the info here: https://www.hoagysheroes.org/

and see if you might want to add this to your plans for next year. I might add- It is for a great cause!

Hope to see you there :yahoo:

Hey T, you know I'll be there (and maybe split a room?)

You got me through that BBG, hoping you can do the same for my SS2KG attempt.

To those of you that don't know Hoagy - well - he ain't never met a stranger! Once you become part of Hoagy's family it'll never be the same LOL. It's a great group of riders, that's for sure.

If you want to do a first cert, do one that you haven't done, or just shaking out things after the winter mods, think about this ride! Hoagy is a very good guy and all the money goes to his charity!

We could really get a big FJR force out there ya know! That would be big fun...........

Jim- Does this mean you are not testing the strom yet?

Maybe at the JAX party? When is the UCC? You could continue from Texas to Deadhorse!

Heck... I would even consider tagging along to Buffalo, WY with you.

It seems I have an appointment with "Grandfatherhood" in Spearfish,SD that might need to be investigated.

Then there is a friend in Duluth,MN...

It is funny how my ride plans develop :p

I think that an SS2000 is 2000 miles in 48 hours.

I also think the SS2000 Gold is 2000 miles in 36 hours.

I may be wrong(?) someone please feel free to

correct me if I am mistaken.

Then there is a 2k day

You have to ask someone like Skooter about that one

I35 through Austin??? Eeek! No thanks!

Ok...maybe. I might have forgotten about my SS1K this past year by then and be stupid enough to do another. :D

I was thinking the same thing regarding I-35. Stay on 10 through San Antonio and then jump on that new toll road and move along at 80 - 85. Sweet.

Hrm, on second thought we'll go with your plan. Yours is much better than mine. Mine was to shoot myself in the head. :D

My UCC© plans revolve around when Greg can go (he traded one of his HDs in on a new VStrom 650 Adventure); and that is mid-late July leaving KW. Still working it out.

I'm still sorting out my Wee. Just got a new front tire today and also pulling a full service so I know where I'm at. I DO need to do a SS1K cert so I know how it does. I think I have the mods I want to do planned out fairly well for it; more later.

Back to the Texas run - no, I'll take the FJR. I don't see any way the Wee would be a better LD mount than Blackie - and I'm just not as brave as you when it concerns the haul road LOL thus the Wee acquisition!

From Texas to Deadhorse? Dangit, maybe I could do a scoutin' mission before hand partway, or at least as far as Buffalo, WY .........

Keep in mind that if you are wanting to do the Lone Star Six Shooter, it has predetermined routing/required receipts at the corners.

Also, doesn't the new toll road take some exorbitant fees to ride it those ~40 miles?

Even at $10 it would be worth it I'd think. That's actually what I'd heard too in the past but can't find any hard data to support that. The tollway authority's web site gives monitary rates between various points but I can't find a total so that was the best I could come up with. The last time I drove through Austin going to SA, I had a bad enough experience that the next three times I went that way I took 281 down.

I am thinking

Start receipt

3 corners fuel each lap

Fuel cell very helpful

Running 70 mph overall avg.

BBG+ pace and a rider could even sleep

for 4 hours.

Deer could be an issue

I would like to ride it in 32 hours

Testing out new gear

And most important... Having some fun!

Bobby "Big Duck" Tobbit is planning to do (2) 1K laps and take a nap at the host hotel between them. If ya think about it, with Texas speed limits & fuel cell doing BBG pace, could do each lap in sub-15 hrs, take a 4-6 hr nap depending, then set off again.

That's putting alot of trust in being able to do the 2nd one within the time, but it's better than needing a rest beyond that but before the finish and doing so on a picnic table.

I hate to stop before hand tho and like to "get it" while I can. Shoot, we did that BBG in 21hrs 30 min, and it would have been less had we not had the fuel cell issue and that friggin' detour!

Bobby is from the Houston area if my memory serves me correctly.

I think that plan is solid, but $ and time an issue for me, I think I will

Preplot rest stops on the route and take a roadside nap after the 24

Hour mark (If needed) figure 1700 miles in 24 hrs should be no problem.

Unless the deer spook me into rest stop sooner.

I think the total is just over $13.00 from Georgetown to Sequin.

Yep, he's on the west side of Houston somewhere.

Sounds like a plan and what I'd want to do too I think; get as much out of the way as possible.
