I use my 07 AE for commuting and weekend trips of 400 to 500 miles, I will be taking my first long distance trip in two weeks (long distance to me not to some). I will ride from SoCal to Colorado traveling thru Nevada and Utah, I have added a Corbin seat, luggage rack, two powerlet outlets, throttlemeister, and GPS to my bike, I purchased LD Comfort riding tights, Gerbings heated gloves, pants and jacket liner, waterproof textile jacket and pants, tankbag with a camelback, sleeping bag and the necessary emergency and repair stuff, I have not purchased a tent yet I'm not sure what to get, any additional pointers from the pros would be greatly appreciated, I never thought I would be at a point in my life were I couldn't wait to get on my bike thanks thttps://s647.photobucket.com/albums/uu199/blurryvision07/o the Feejer bug.

Number one Keep hydrated!

Remember, it's not how fast you go it's how fast you stop.

Then all that's left is "sit there, twist that"

Oh, and for a tent I use this

+1 on your tent suggestion...They don't leak and they are easy to pack! https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//style_image...icons/icon4.gif

Blurry, L.L.Bean offers some really well-made tents that will last the rest of your days.

And have a fantastic trip. Take time, take pictures, and take other than main roads.

(A take some good tequila for the evening campfire.)

OK, I have camped a few times on the bike and this is what I've got. A Eureka Apex $119 not too roomy but packs small.

You can see a boatload of backpacking tents HERE

If you have an REI in your area, hit them up. They don't have the cheap options but their customer service is great - they take anything back at any time for any reason. I'm intending to buy a new tent from them at some point since my tent is 15 years old. I also have a backpack stove and a backpacking cookware set I throw in a waterproof duffel along with my tent, sleeping bag and self inflating mattress strapped across my pillion seat when I'm camping.

How many days?

I like my tents to be roomy enough to bring all the gear inside, including the saddlebags, etc. and still be able to stand up straight. Bending over to dress sucks. Also type in "motorcycle camping" to get more helpful hints.

With all that gear, how do you have room for your golf clubs?? :D

What are the odds of running into you that day?

They took a pic of me when I showed up (ignore the guy that looks naked behind me)

The kicker after all that... the guy that was going to play a round with sprained his hand playing football while I was driving up so all the effort for nothing. I don't recommend that move, a couple hours in a good headwind passing semi's was more action than I intended for that ride. I played it smart and sent the clubs back to Minneapolis with a friend in a cage. I've found that anytime I put on anything wider than the bags or anything non-aerodynamic on top of the Givi makes for a wild ride in a head or crosswind.
