I use the medium size and it is ample for my needs. I've done a 2-week trip with it and had more than enough room to pack all my stuff!

Second vote for Tyler's suggestion; here is a Medium on my '07 in Big Bend.

When I'm not on a trip, I have a Corbin Smuggler installed, but it's not big enough to hold more than the basic essentials.

I've got the same bag and it works great. I never posted my install cuz the original author did such a great job. The original reason for the purchase was because I don't like tank bags too much. There is an added benefit and maybe it's because i run Sargent Seats but when the bag is full it gives me additional lower back support JMHO ~Harvey

I have this Cargo Endurance magnetic tank bag:

I have used it on my tank a couple of times, but it is pretty big, so I don't really like it there. However, it has 4 D-rings at the base, so I decided to rig it into a tail bag. I fashioned a short bungie that runs underneath my rear seat, and have another that runs around the backrest to the luggage rack. The bag sits just fine, and comes off in about 20 seconds. I can fill it as full as I want and expand it if I need to. I leave the magnetic base on there just in case I want to use the map pocket in it, or decide I have to put the bag on the tank.

It works great, doesn't move, and I didn't have to buy another bag. I had thought about using Rok Straps, but it looks to me like one side is a closed loop, which will cause an issue with the bag's D-rings. I bought that bag at CycleGear a few years ago for around $60. I don't think they even carry them anymore.

I've learned that the single best class of gear for rear seat bags are "range bags" for shooters. You can get them in heavy duty cordura, spray the heck out of them with a water proofer and have an excellent bag for a huge discount over those targeted to motorcyclists. I've used my current one for nearly 2 decades and it still keeps things bone dry through all weather.
