I'm looking for someone who is mechanically familiar with the Gen 1 FJR and who would like to do some major maintenance work on my bike. At 80-some thousand miles, it's time for a good going over from gas tank to drain plug.

I, unfortunately, do not have the skill, let alone the inclination, to get into "the vitals" of motorcycles. I'm willing to pay a good amateur/pro mechanic to do the work, as I don't trust dealers in any way, shape or form. Plus, at my advanced age, I just start throwing things in the garage when I run into a snag. Not good for the heart, you know?

If you—or someone you know —might be interested, please PM me. He must be somewhere in Oregon, though. I can't let the bike go any longer.

Thanks, fellows.

I PM'd FJRay and hopefully he's favorable to my offer. He's on the other side of the mountains, but that's no problem.

+1, Gunny; if FJRay can fix up all of the motorcycles that Don Carver destroys, then he can perform miracles on your GEN1 FJR! jes' sayin' and nuff said!

Nice Zinger, Don.

But I wouldn't wanna be you at the Reuben Run!

Ray and I are in contact and I'm bringing him the bike next week. Woo Hoo! He's a hunnert miles away but out here, that's just a Sunday drive through the mountains. The fun part will be the ride back. It's really great to see he's so well respected.

Flylooper you will absolutely not be disappointed in FJRay's moto mechanical skills, he is no doubt the best wrench on our Fine FJR Forum; however, he still looks like the north end of a south bound Basset Hound ese! jes' sayin' and nuff said, eh!

That may be so—at this point. Believe me, I'm no Adonis. Ask my ex-wife, although maybe the farting under the covers finally got to her and she left me for some fancy-shmancy lawyer. It took me about 20 minutes to send him a Thank You card.
