Just to give Los Robustos a little bump, while in Hyder, Alaska recently I enjoyed several meals at The Seafood Express, a.k.a. 'The Bus'. While I foolishly forgot to bring the camera to the table for most meals, I did score one shot to give some example of the delightful fare.
During my day and a half in Hyder, I enjoyed - Captains Platter: Halibut, oysters, shrimp, scallops & fries in good portions, plus a cup of chowder for an appitizer. The next meal - Giant sea scallops sauteed in garlic/onion butter, (double order since they were out of chowder) + fries. My final dinner was 1.5 lbs of fresh King Crab legs preceded by ten shrimp & cheese wonton. OMG!
The Bus is one of the reasons I return to Hyder every couple of years. The food is often caught the day before you eat it and all of it is
FRESH. Well prepared, if a little heavy on the deep frying due to the limitations of the venue.
each scallop is about 1.5" in diameter and 3/4" thick. 10 in a double order, or "large" size.
Later there was fudge from Caroline's, but that's another kind of decadence.
