Jill,

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my old cat in March and even the dog misses him. I even miss the annoying things about him. He used to jump up on the grill (unlit of course) and pluck the screen like a banjo every time he would hear the sound of clams hitting the stainless steel sink, treating it like it was a take-out window.....So I buried him under his favorite birdhouse.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. Although we all know the time will eventually come for each pet, it is never easy. For us when that inevitable time has come, I've said that I would never have another pet because the sadness is not worth the pain. But ... sure enough ... either we see a pet or one comes to our door and we've added to our family. You'll always have a special place for that pet and you'll feel better in time. I wish you the best as you move from grief to frequent fond and happy remembrances of KC.

Sorry to hear about that Jill. :(

As I type this, our cat is sitting on my lap. Our cat is not long for this world as it has a growing tumor that was found to be cancerous. I am not one to have operations done on cats, but this one we considered having an operation done as it is so friendly and has a loud purring motor. When we found out that the tumor was cancerous and already in the bone we cancelled the surgery, brought the cat home, and have been giving him pain relievers. Once we see the cat is in distress or suffering, we will take him down to the vet and have him put to sleep. Until then, we'll just give him all the good stuff from this life that cats like....but soon it will be time to say good-bye.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. We (wife, children) recently brought a puppy into our home - our first pet. Now that he's been with us for five months, I can not imagine life without him. I know cats, in particular, have a silent wisdom - an empathic sensitivity - that enables them to connect on a deep emotional level with their owners (if their owners are receptive and nurturing).

I am grateful that there are people like you out there who take such compassionate, loving care of their animals.

Sorry for your loss.

My cats are my children and my oldest is in the sunset of his time here. I'm not sure how Im gonna deal with it when the time comes. :sadsmiley02:

It's always amazed me how an animal, so cavalier, so aloof, can worm their way into your life. We have two cats that are over 10 years old, and I hope they enjoy al long life. It sure has been a good one, and I'm sure your cat never wanted for anything either.

Sorry for your loss, Jill.

Wow, I am amazed at the sensitivity everybody is displaying here! Yet this same group will give you a bird so fast it will make your head spin if someone does something squidly or other wise stupid!!! My kind of people!!!

Jill, so very sorry to learn of your loss. Our pets are most certainly "people" too. If I had to chose to save a much beloved pet or some of the folks I've met, a few of those folks would be in real trouble. Take care.

Hey Jill,

Sorry for your loss.

I've had a string of losses of furry things.

They are such pure beings.

Condolences. I truly know your pain. I have lost pets over the years and none are easy. Having to go through your special pain was a first for me when we had to put a much-loved dog down after it became paralyzed. Time distances us from the pain but the good memories will always remain.

Jill, Sorry to hear of your loss. It's amazing how our pets become such a part of the family. I have 2 dogs and since I don't have children of own yet, they are my kids. I have had my oldest since she was a puppy and is almost 15 and I know her time is short and it's very difficult to even to think about it. Just be glad yours didn't have to suffer long and treasure the memories that were left behind.

Jill,

I thought that was my kitty on your desk top! Mine musta been a cuz'n, as it's drawn blood from many a visiting family member or friend who has tried to pet her.

Cats are more than just family members...there more like the bestest friend that one could have!

So very sorry for your loss!

So sorry Jill -- we feel your loss.

Deb's cats (mine by default ) who had been with her for 20 and 22 years both had to be put to sleep just 2 years ago. We still think about them. A couple more, just as crazy, now roam the house
