I see you live in Minnesota. One of the big issues with the 05 was that there was more heat coming off the engine hitting the rider's legs. This is a good thing at any temp below 65, doesn't matter between 65 and 75, and becomes an issue for guys like me who live in warm climates where the temps are often over 80. So with Minn. temps, most of the time this might be a plus.
Another is that the 06 ABS are linked. Can make bleeding the brakes a little more of a challenge. Don't know if this matters to you. The 06's are a bit heavier as well, for what it's worth. Another item, sliders are cheaper on the 06, as they don't require brackets. Unless you choose to cut a hole in your fairing of the 05, then sliders would be about the same price. I have an 05 and bought the ones with brackets for 80 bucks from "T Rex." Also: the 05's that were tickers were few in number. Most never have an issue with it, from what I've read on the forum.
