Just checking to see what "normal" temps are for these things...

Here are mine:

HD-104*

CPU-153*

Enclosure Base-94

Enclosure Base 2-95*

Enclosure Base 3-95

Heatsink A 153*

Heatsink B- 135

Northbridge 1- 131*

Do these seem normal for a machine that is dual booted and running 24/7?

Don't know exact temperatures, but my daughter burned her leg with one. She got a pad called iXoft - it is filled with a salt compound that turns to a gel as it absorbs heat. I have one for my laptop if I am watching a movie.

yes. I had one of the first gen Macbooks and they had heat problems and Apple told me the operating temp was 120-mid 150's. They at the time were going way over it due to a faulty heat sink. Mine averages in that range most of the time. Make sure to not block the heat vents also

Thanks guys

I have it positioned so that the exhaust vents are pointed up to allow the heat to escape easier.

This may sound silly, but don't use it in your lap.

:tomato:

Seriously!

These notebook computers need air flow in and around them. When you use them in your lap, or on a bed sheet you are adding insulation underneath which makes the fans work all that much harder to keep it within operating temperatures. If you don't like using it on a desk, try cutting a lap size sheet of plywood to set it on. The idea is to leave an air gap under the machine for cooling. It also helps keep the perimeter air vents unblocked for proper air flow through the machine.
