Don't know if I am going to make the May Run trip or not but I would appreciate a copy of your GPS file. I think I have run all of these roads before (some good choices, by the way), but I would like to have a good look at the details. MapSource, S&T, or Garmin would work for me.

Thanks, Scott. It really does hit all the best riding roads in the area.

There are some other roads that are good, but this route hits on all of the smoothest and funnest.

The only thing I tweaked on this route was to add a lunch stop at a good pizza place in St. Johnsbury, Ramunto's Brick Oven. They usually have pies already made and you can just buy a slice or two. I highly recomend any of their thin crust pizza. Unfortunately, there aren't too many other places to stop to have lunch except in St J's, but the traffic shouldn't be too bad on a Friday.

Scheduled rest and photo ops at the top of the Kank (just before the switchback) in the AM and at the top of Cathedral Ledge in the afternoon, where you have to get off and walk only about a hundred yards to look off the cliffs. The parking can be a little dicey on top of the Ledge due to lack of anything level. Best bet is to keep your bike pointing uphill and leave it in gear. But the view is well worth the parking hassle. And on a Friday afternoon there shouldn't be too many cars parked up there.

Is the Dolly Copp/Pinkham B (Closed in Winter) paved? It runs from Rt 16 accross to Randolh on Rt 2?

It is paved only part way. Easily dual sportable, but not really FJR worthy. I mean I'd do it, but I'm crazy that way.

It's also not a very fun road anyway. Mostly straight, too low for any good vistas and fully enveloped in trees. The main advantage of Pinkham B road is to shortcut around Gorham to Rte 2 West in the summer tourist traffic. Otherwise, Rte 16 up through Pinkham Notch is a better ride, with big sweepers and wide open vistas on both sides.

If you opt to follow the route the way I laid it out, this would be at the very end of the day anyway. After Hurricane Mt road, Bear Notch road (x2), VT 232 and all the sweepers on the Kank and Rte 302, the sides of your tires will not feel neglected.

It looks like I will not be joining you guys at the Motel on Thursday night in Gorham. Instead I'll be heading out early on Friday and try and catch up with you somewhere along the ride. Then I'll peel off and head for home after the ride up Cathedral Ledge and come back to Whitehorse on Saturday with the missus.
