gee...can i just buy the hardware for 240 then? everything i was seeing was 900 beans for a cruise crontrol...i almost fell off the seat....or am i wrong on this? if i'm right...how can they justify almost a grand for it? inquiring mind would love to know?
$180. Murphs' CCS100 (formerly Audio Vox) cruise performs the same way as the Mc. Some skill is required but the install for the FJR has been well documented by several people and the Forum has your back. The pic is a clickable link.

I am very very well versed on auto mechanics and bikes but i have never ever ever installed on of the electronic univeral cruise control units....nor do i want a ton of **** all over the bike to make it work...kinda a perfectionist...maybe need ask for a hand from someone who has done it...we will see....thanks for the follow up

I don't know what people expect from the McCruise kit, but it looks very similar to the Murphs' because they are basically the same thing. Shown is the universal McCruise kit 'cause that's the only pic I can get but the FJR kit will have more parts than what is shown here. The Murphs' kit comes with way more parts than you will use for your FJR install, it is a universal kit that tries to cover all bases.

Here is what I saw in the cruise.... Exact fit for my motorcycle; great reviews of the equipment; Paid about $200 less as I bought it off another rider that sold his bike before he installed it. (I would have been purchasing it anyway had I not found it from another rider though); Exact step by step directions and exact equipment. (I do mean exact with pictures included specific to the FJR and not a another motorcycle) and last but not least. Three phone calls and a few emails from Tony at McCruise (he called me) to this guy in the US about install questions about a cruise that this guy he didn't even buy from the original manufacturer. He just wanted to make sure I felt comfortable with all my concerns...

Yes it was more expensive but for me there is no way without the support and directions would I have been able to do the install and I can't imagine a dealer would have tried to put it in had it not been motorcycle specific (maybe) which I thought I was going to have to do with my limited mechanical ability. (That would have cost me another $500-$1000 as no dealer around here had done this install)

Go with an another brand if you want as that is everyones choice but your bike and how you ride is different from other folks and me personally did some research and heard reviews and decided to make the bigger investment.

The ultimate goal is that we all get to ride better and more comfortable. To me... It was worth the investment. Ride safe everyone!!!

I am looking forward to getting to use the cruise on the road this spring.

I did a huge amount of research on the internet over more than a year before making my decision. I sent Tony at McCruise probably 25 long, detailed emails over the course of several months before making my decision. Keep in mind, I hadn't bought anything from him, yet, and he had no guarantee that I ever would. But damned if he didn't take the time to write thoughtful, detailed replies to each and every one of my emails. I bought and installed the McCruise in December.

Frankly, it seems to me the only thing that is the same between the Murph's unit and the McCruise is the vacuum actuator... and the similarities end there.

Oh, yeah... they both also have control pads, but those aren't similar at all.

I have drunk the McCruise Kool-Aid, and it is good. For me, the pre- and post-sales support, the CIU, the computer/software, the multiple safety interlocks, the weather-sealed-motorcycle-specific control pad, and just the overall motorcycle-specific design of the McCruise made it worth the money to me. That equation may not balance for everyone. Just be sure you are willing to go forward with absolutely ZERO mfg support before buying the Murph's.

Many people here have installed the Audiovox/Murph's unit and ridden with it for thousands of trouble-free miles, and I'm not going to ridicule their decisions. They bought and installed what worked for them and most of them are likely much more mechanically-inclined than I. But I just can't imagine choosing it over the McCruise unless you just can't afford the McCruise.
