R.I.P. Our Motorcycling Friend
Haven't subscribed since the sales nazi at the Mpls Bike Show accosted me like she was representin' for The 700 Club.
Yup, this is the reason I don't normally subscribe to print magazines, as they really pretty baldly jack their most loyal customers, especially the American magazines. I've never figured out that business model. I guess it's better than suing all your customers, like the music industry.I just got my renewal notice in the mail.........I have it here sitting on my desk. Been kicking around the thought of re-uping..not as easy of a decision this year........as it's been in years past.
It says: 24 issues $60.00 (w/enclosed 5.00 off coupon)
or 12 issues for $44.00.
I don't think so -- it really is a lousy m/c magazine (imo).<snip>....Motorcycle Consumer News .... I've heard of it but I've never seen a copy. Is it worth it?
Well, I wouldn't go that far. It is an OK mag (the writing is often poorly done) and would e worth $20 to a new subscriber. It is *not* worth the $40 they want to charge for present subscribers though.Since they take no advertising dollars (that's right, no ads in it!), the reviews are not biased.
Disagree. It's still the best moto-mag out there in my not so humble opinion. Period. It is *not* worth the $40 they want to charge for present subscribers though.
In an market unfettered by hide-bound traditionalism -- buyers would stay-away from such fatally-flawed products in droves. No other M/C magazine has had the guts to do a in depth analysis of the BMW Final Drive Failure Fiasco like MCN has done.
IMHO it's the finest motorcycle magazine out there, and it's the only one I subscribe to. Since they take no advertising dollars (that's right, no ads in it!), the reviews are not biased. They cover everything from dual-sports, sportbikes, and cruisers to our beloved sport-touring machine. Spend the money, you'll be glad you did.
