I just got my renewal notice in the mail.........I have it here sitting on my desk. Been kicking around the thought of re-uping..not as easy of a decision this year........as it's been in years past.
It says: 24 issues $60.00 (w/enclosed 5.00 off coupon)

or 12 issues for $44.00.
Yup, this is the reason I don't normally subscribe to print magazines, as they really pretty baldly jack their most loyal customers, especially the American magazines. I've never figured out that business model. I guess it's better than suing all your customers, like the music industry.

Just play the game better than them, purchase a 3 year subscription. Not only do you save, but you don't get bugged by all the renewal notices.

<snip>....Motorcycle Consumer News .... I've heard of it but I've never seen a copy. Is it worth it?
I don't think so -- it really is a lousy m/c magazine (imo).

The last thing motorcycling needs is a "consumerist movement" and a magazine that speaks to same. If you keep going down that road -- you could, conceivably, end-up with an International-Harvester Motorcycle!

Motorcycle magazines are part of the 'entertainment industry' -- let's keep it that way... :)

Since they take no advertising dollars (that's right, no ads in it!), the reviews are not biased.
Well, I wouldn't go that far. It is an OK mag (the writing is often poorly done) and would e worth $20 to a new subscriber. It is *not* worth the $40 they want to charge for present subscribers though.

Disagree. It's still the best moto-mag out there in my not so humble opinion. Period.

Also agree about there non-bias, at least when it comes to advertising dollars by manufactureres.

For example, the issue that showed up a few days ago has a big in-depth article on BMW final drive failures. What other moto-mag would have had the guts to tackle that subject? Also has a great article (as far as I am concerned) on dual sports (BMW R1200GS, KTM 990 Adv, and Buell Ulysees).

Quality mag.

Man, I really do hate this! But once again, I have to agree with mi amigo SkooterG; regarding Motorcycle Consumer News.

No other M/C magazine has had the guts to do a in depth analysis of the BMW Final Drive Failure Fiasco like MCN has done.

BMW's "900 Pound Gorilla In The Corner" advertising dollars has scared away all of the other magazines from speaking out.

As someone who has put 555,000 miles on these motorraden I have a vested interest in getting this final drive issue solved by the BMW factory for once and for all! "Ingrid" and "Mi Mexico Mule" both have the Paralever-equipped Oilhead rear end.

MCN utilized the collective wisdoms of Anton Largiader, Technical Editor for the BMW Riders Association magazine ON THE LEVEL (OTL) and Paul Glaves, Technical Editor of BMW OWNERS NEWS. Hopefully, this report will get BMW AG of its fat ***.

In an market unfettered by hide-bound traditionalism -- buyers would stay-away from such fatally-flawed products in droves.

The point that it needs exposing in print by a national consumer advocate magazine (after many years of well known/documented failures) sheds doubt on the efficacy of all those ECON 101 classes taught in junior colleges around the country....

IMHO it's the finest motorcycle magazine out there, and it's the only one I subscribe to. Since they take no advertising dollars (that's right, no ads in it!), the reviews are not biased. They cover everything from dual-sports, sportbikes, and cruisers to our beloved sport-touring machine. Spend the money, you'll be glad you did.

+1 !!!!
