That sounds awesome except for the timing. I get back the day before from 5 days in Vegas. My five-year old daughter is expecting Dad home all weekend after being gone, so a weekend ride east is probably not in the cards. Have eaten there before, though. It's worth the trip.

I may try to join you.

Been wanting to get to the east side of the state for a while, and wasn't able to do my Hell's Canyon thing last season, so I'll see if the timing works out as we get closer...

I'll be there one way or another. Hope the town is ready for us! :dribble:

Anyone from the westside want to get together for the ride over?

I'm up for that one if the snow is gone in the passes. Around noon?

Ride to eat and eat to ride. I will see you all there. 395 from Pendleton south is one of the best roads in the northwest. I haven't been on it south of Mt. Vernon so now I will find out how it is.

Ride to eat sounds good to me.

Can't confirm yet because too far out to predict weather, ...but I'm "likely".

Easy ride up, i'll leave EARLY sat ...but I'll want to bring another route back home. Perfect world, I'd go west over to 242 and then take that little road (FR-19?) from Blue River down to Oakridge and then southeast down to 97 and home. However I don't know if some of those roads will be descent or even open this time of year? I may also look at going home to the east .....that might be a safer bet this time of year ..but more boring.

Open to any thoughts on some good riding roads that might be descent this time of year that I could work into a loop home.

< Edit : revised map. Not too exciting but probably as creative as I can do this time of year. Long term forecast doesn't look too bad. Weather/roads permitting, I'd love to zig-zag around to the north (Fossil etc) and then crash for the night in Bend and then home.>

Hwy 140 from 395 over to 95 is a blast. The west end has some good twists and turns with one awesome climb up the side of a cliff and the east side is designed for FJR warp speed cruiseing. The last two times I have been across there were no cops to be seen. Hope to see you there. :)

You can probably forget 242 and FR-19, both will be snowed in, OR242 is closed for the winter and the Aufderheide (FR-19) will probably be snow covered as well.

Right now no east/west passes through the Oregon Cascades is passable on two wheels unless you are extremely adventurous. I am just hoping we hit a warm spell. As I recall there are three, currently snow covered, passes between me and Mt. Vernon depending on route.

Same here... unless we have a serious-ass heat spell real soon, taking 395 down south to Mount Vernon ain't going to work.

Example: look at this snowed-up summit at Battle Mountain.... I ain't taking a bike here through here:

BATTLE MT SUMMITSevere Weather Hazard

Weather Condition: Snow Flurries

Road Surface: Packed Snow

Chain Restrictions: Chains Required on vehicles towing or over 10,000 GVW

Chain restriction between MP 42 and MP 34.

Current Temp: 25 F

High Temp:

Low Temp:

Precipitation:

New Snow: 2 in.; Roadside Snow: 10 in.

I haven't been on that section of 140 for quite a while. ....good call that is a good option ...not a bad road at all. I'll also look to the east. I'm pretty sure I can make this work .....but it'll be mid next week before I know for sure ...mother nature will have to behave.

Yep, very much wishful thinking of going west from there. So many fond memories of those many great roads that I coudn't help but think: hmmmm, ...i wonder if ...and if I cut over here ....and maybe i can cross over there ....etc etc ....I'll have to put those thoughts away for at least a few months.

Geeze, quite some snow at Battle Mountain. Crazy! fun seeing the camera shot --kinda keeps reality in check

thanks guys .....80% at this point ....hope to put it at 99% by this time next week ....but it'll be on low roads and with the weather's cooperation if I do.

If I wasn't heading to Death Valley next weekend, I'd be all over this. :(

Next time maybe. Have fun!!
