Melting plastic on instrument cluster

... And it was never clear whether the magnification effect was due to the convex or concave side of the windshield...

It can only be a reflection from the concave (rear) side, that's the only way the heat from the sun could be concentrated.

Much less likely to happen with the screen down, the screen angle is steeper and closer to the dash, I suspect the focus would be below the dials.

Anyone good at drawing ray diagrams?
