Before I had an FJR, I had a Honda ST, and still belong to the awesome community at the ST-Owners forum. On Saturday, we had an ST rider named Dean from Rochester, have an accident near Espanola, Ont. west of Sudbury. He went off the gravel shoulder, stayed right of the guardrail and down a big embankment, probably hit a rock and did a couple of endovers. They transferred Dean to Sudbury hospital for investigation of possible neck fracture since they found something on the original xray in Espanola.

When I discovered the posting Sunday morning, I thought I would ask Bungie (whom I'd just met the week before at CFR) if he could perhaps retrieve some personal belongings from the bike (still in Espanola area) and see what the bike looked like. Well, he has more than risen to the occasion, and has stayed active in our planning the return of Dean to Rochester, as two or three of us will have to transfer him home. He has offered us an overnight stay and is on standby to help where needed.

Dean in particular is very grateful as he must feel like a prisoner stuck in hospital bed over a Can/US holiday weekend, no belongings, and reaching out to his friends way down in Rochester (no family). Bungie is the first guy he has seen (and only one so far), and was very relieved to get some of his personal stuff. Meanwhile, the support group is assembled and we are awaiting word for Dean's release so we can transport him. Dean is amazed at this also.

All the guys on the ST board are a very supportive community and they all want Bungie to know his efforts are much appreciated. And I want to publicly recognize him here as well as an outstanding FJR citizen. Thanks, Bungie, life is much better for all of us because of your help and we are much better informed of the situation. You rock!

And now I read about Brodie....... it looks like there's a bunch of people stepping up in that situation too. I'm sure Brodie appreciates every post and phone call so he doesn't feel alone. I can only urge anyone to pay forward, and hope we never need that kind of help. All the best.

Bungie proves once again why he's number 1 !!!! Atta boy Steve.

Oh stop. I went and got the guys stuff for him and visited him in the hospital a couple of times. I suspect nearly everybody here would do the same if asked.

Amazing though, knowing the terrain up here, the boy doesn't have a mark on him! Can't say the same for his bike though! Next batch of gear I buy will be Motoport for sure. Dean is also a friend of MartyO on here and Huron52. Small world!

Nice going, Stevie.

You're right, of course. It sounds like a big deal to help a guy out (and it IS, for sure) but to the person actually doing it ..... <shrug> it's hardly noteworthy. Just something we'd do to help out a friend. And in this (riding / Forum ) community, we're ALL friends.

Hugs and ksses

Steve, I know you spent quite a bit of your time on this, and while it seems like a small thing, it was huge to Dean. He is quite overjoyed at the support he is getting. I can only imagine that being stuck in a hospital room not in your own country unable to reach his health care and insurance folks on holidays, and seeing a real human being was a great relief. If ever any of us were in that situation, a real live helping hand would be priceless. Let's hope none of us ever have to go there. So, enjoy a little bit of well deserved notoriety, and thanks for your generosity. I see some cold beer in our future..........

Good on ya Steve!

It's easy to say we'd all do the same, but the fact that you stepped up reinforces what a great group of people we can count on if needed!

I'm sure, as Ray says, that your assistance and personal contact means the world to Dean. I think you've made a new friend for life! :D

And an equally big "Atta Boy" to Ray for stepping up to arrange for Steve's help... and everything else he is doing to assist our fellow fallen Sport Tourer.

You meet the best people on FJRs! :good:

Not only does Steve step up to do this...but he stepped up to voluntarily maintain the FJR Assistance List after Gypsy passed the torch. He's the one that emails everybody on the list every month or so...

...THANKS STEVE!! :clapping:
