For those asking about the profile of the PR3 compared to the PR2 in a press release I read from Michelin they say that the PR3 has a more rounded profile. When comparing the two tires at my dealer its obvious the PR3 doesn't have the conehead profile of the PR2.

I haven't heard that the PR2 are being dropped yet but Competition accessories said they couldn't get me a regular Pilot Road rear tire for my FZ1. They said the regular Pilot Road was being discontinued and suggested I put on a PR2. I hope it doesn't cause problems mixing with my Pilot Road front. The PR2 looks to have a much more triangular tread profile.
I ran many miles last year on a PR front and PR2 rear and had no troubles whatsoever. Those miles included many twisties and a few stints on the Dragon; I really wouldn't worry about it.

Sounds great. Thanks!

PR3's??? I just got a PR2 rear, Nice tire, Gonna get a pr2 front in a couple months hopefully on sale since the pr3 is out. DR

Had a set installed this morning at local dealer. They discounted quite a bit. Couldn't find a 'net deal for less. Replaced Dunlops that were near flat spot in the middle on the rear tire. Take anything I say with a grain of salt, I just started riding last August for the first time in 20 years. My impression after 20 minutes on these is that somehow I feel closer to the ground. Transition from turn to turn feels quicker and more secure. I feel no "give" in the corners like I did before. Confidence inspiring so far. Have not gotten up to speed on the freeway yet to see how that feels.

I've been a Michelin fan on my vehicles for years and always expect their tires to perform. So far so good.

I just put a set of PR3s on the FZ6. The bike isso much lighter than the FJR but it will be interesting to see how they do on the next trip.

I would like to order some PR3s as well how are they holding up ? And what is the best deals out there?thanks.

I've got 2k on a set. Subjectively they feel harder to me. I also find I like them with a little more tire pressure that I ran in the PR2s for some reason. I hope they get more mileage on the front tire for me, I only got an average of 4-5k on at least 4 front PR2s. Other than that, they seem to grip similarly, wet & dry.

I have 11000 miles on my PR2s & should get another 2000

Always amazes me when I hear that. I pushed my last set to 6k and hated the last 1k miles. Couldn't make a turn to save my life.

I

so far... I find them much louder than the pr2'S
Wow, I found the PR2s to be loud, especially when leaned over. Thought I had a wheel bearing going. But still, got almost 16K miles out of that set. Can't see the PR3s, with that funky front sipe, matching that mileage. I suspect it will cup early and be pretty ugly.

The poster is from OK ... there's no need to turn there ... just like up here in MN. I have no problem running square tires until the rubber is gone, and that's around 10-12k for me. Heck, I even mount the worn out crappy sportbike tires my friends leave in my garage, so I can save the fresh new rubber for when I get out of the state.

Ok, I just burned through my first, and last, set of PR3's. 4k miles. I hated them, they aren't as sticky as PR2s IMHO, didn't last any longer and I am not going to pay a premium for them anymore.

Wow. Interesting. I know 03Silverbullet loves them compared to the PR2s and is getting good life. Funny how with tires, one man's golden goose is another's turd. Good data point. Still don't see you folks burn through a set of these tires in 4k miles though. I just can't comprehend it.

They probably have another k or so in the middle, but the sides are completely gone.

Just chatted with one of the motor officers from a local PD who is testing the PR3's on his department BMW. Mixed review. No complaints in the dry from the rear. Not real enthused about the front under emergency threshold braking though. He described it's response as unpredictable and non-linear under those conditions. For example, with the PR2, ETB response from the front was solid and progressive and then even pulsing in ABS. With the PR3, he described the tire would grip but the ABS response wasn't smooth and linear. More like under ETB the tire would grip, ABS would kick in but then the tire would lose grip kicking the ABS in again then lose grip, etc. They're certainly not sold on them and they've all been using PR2's.

I have been happy with the PR3's. Great handling tire and they are great in the rain - even better than the PR2's and they seem to have better traction in the dry.

As far as life goes, I think they will be comparable to the PR2's.
