Anybody going to mid-ohio on aug 6th for the dealer rides?
I don't live in Mansfield anymore, but I've got to ask... are the dealer rides on the track? If so, I might have to come back home for a couple of days! I'd love to take a ride around that little track on two wheels! I grew up at that track and I actually rode in the pace car at the start of the old Escort 200. (No, it was not a race for Ford Escorts... Passport used to sponsor the CHAMP car race and it was called the Escort 200.)

To this day I still remember going through the old key hole onto the back stretch and then coming into the S's. Those were some laps I'll never forget... it would have only been better if I was driving, but I was only 15 so I guess I should be happy I was even in the pace car!

I just checked the Mid-Ohio web site and I don't see it listed. There is a special day on August 2nd for Kawasaki owners.

  • KAWASAKI RIDERS EXCLUSIVE DAY - August 2

If you are a Kawasaki rider you can ride The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on August 2, 2006! This one day only event is only open to Kawasaki riders and offers a great price. Only $99. We will allow up to 35 novice riders, 60 intermediate riders (broken into 2 groups of 30 each) and 40 advanced riders.

I do not know where the test rides are but sunday the 6th you can ride you fjr around the track. It requires registering fairly early in the day and happens during lunch intermission. The local Honda dealer has pre-reg forms. I will stop there in the next day or so and get one them. It can't be that hard to scan one and post it.

Haven't been able to find a room within 20 miles of the track. If I can find a decent room, I'm thinking I'll be going.

Probably in September. Wanted to go in August but it may be a little late to sign up for that one. Seems like quite an organized operation. Bike and Gear requirements and such. May keep the "show off and get somebody killed" crowd to a minimum. Let me know and we'll work out a date. They have a schedule on that site for all the classes.

Beaverun is another option for a track day. I don't have funds for a suit right now but a track day sure sounds like fun. For couple hundred bucks they will even provide a bike.

Thats the AMA weekend right?.. if so I'll be camping down there with my local riding group but probably heading back home on Sunday sometime

I just found out that "Sport Tourers" have their own special day at Mid Ohio for track day. It's September 27. You don't need a leather suit but do need a jacket and pants combo that zip together that can be nylon or leather. I'll attach the letter that Mid Ohio emailed me in reference to this. You can even rent a leather racing suit if you want. It sure sounds great. I'd love to run around on the track and learn some stuff.

See ya ,

Mike

Here is the letter :

Thank you for your interest in The Mid-Ohio School. Sport touring bikes have

a special class date on September 27th. It is open to Novice, Intermediate

and Advanced riders. If you have never done a track riding day with us or

anyone else you must be in the Novice class. This will include both

instruction and on track riding. The cost of the program is $260. You can

register online at www.midohioschool.com.

For the Novice class you can use ballistic nylon suits such as Joe Rocket or

Aerostitch. If they are 2 piece they should zip together at least in the

back. Leather rentals are available for $75 per day if what you have won't

work.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Mike,

What the hell, I'm in for a track day. :guitar:

That ST day sounds good, although it does say cruisers too...one would think there wouldn't be a lot of cruisers signing up, but who knows.

I believe it said Sept 27. Hmmm..now how to scheme yet another day off of work. :evilsmiley:

Anyone else interested?

Yeah, I emailed them about that. I sure don't want to be honing my curve carving skills and run right up an Ultra Glide's rear end. They should have their own day. But if that's all we have to choose from this year I guess it's worth a try. I'm definately going, it would be cool if a few of us got together down there.

If you want to do the dealer ride on Sun.,believe you have to pre-register with your eligible dealer ahead of time.List of dealers is available in their newsletter, probably their website.

Those looking to do a trackday that maybe can't make the "Sport Touring" day at Mid-Ohio... Check out Sportbike Track Time... this is who runs the Mid-Ohio trackdays and also run trackdays on every other major track all across the country so you can easily find the one closest to you.
