So, Mike (Moosehead) and I (FJRob1300) are turning 50 this year. We're planning a little trip. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of 30,000 km.

Leg #1 (see note 2)

Starting out on May 21st from Mikes house we will meander south through MI,OH,WV,VA,SC,GA , and Florida all the way to Key West by the 29th of May. Time for some scuba diving. Leaving FL we will go through AL and MS stopping in LA. End of leg 1 will be in New Orleans June 1 and 2. (see note 1)

Leg #2 (see note 2)

It's off to TX,NM,AZ and then MEXICO! We are riding the Baja Peninsula all the way down to Cabo San Lucas. June 9 is the estimated date there. More scuba diving. North bound will find us back in AZ to take a peek at the Grand Canyon. Then off to Las Vegas NV. Fun times :) . From Vegas it's over to Hollywood CA. Finishing in Santa Rosa on the 17th of June.

Leg #3 (see note 2)

Off to OR,WA and up into BC and Calgary AL by the 21st of June. Back south into MT and ID then east into WY,SD,MN, and WI by the 26th of June. We may or may not make it back in time for CFR.

Note 1 : SFO could be on our radar. At least one day of it. Probably will come down to the weather in the area.

Note 2 : Mike and I are open to the following (all or in part) to anyone who wishes to tag along as we pass through your area. Anyone who wishes to have us drop in and eat your food and drink your beer. Anyone who wishes to have us sleep in your back yard, basement, attic, spare room or garage. (bragging rights to you) ( as in "Do you have any idea who slept, ate, drank here!) Ya I know EH?

We will post our trip in progress as internet is available. We hope to camp most of the time. (weather permitting)

Help with oil changes and tire changes would be most appreciated.

Rob.

I'd be happy to house y'all....but, not sure where I'll be living.....

I have an annual tradition of giving spare tires to indigent Canadians that show up with no tread left and somehow think they'll make it home. Gary, last summer.

Murray, summer before that. Hell, he about needed a whole new wheel. And his buddy I don't recall at WTF.0 also got a tire from me.

So feel free to stop by in Idaho Falls, I have one or two hanging in the garage.

Well it seems like the 'big trip' schedule for Canadians is every 3 years. I'm headed up to the Arctic Circle in July. Ya ya, I know, "Mr. I never get to go anywhere" and the Kielbasa Hauler did the Europe thing last year. But they's like the mayor of Ripley/Bowmanville or something ain't they? Those guys keep bankers hours.

Must be nice to have that much vacation time. I'm working every other Saturday between now and the end of May just to bank time. They want me to bring my Netbook and are loaning me the company Satellite Phone. Pfft.. Like I'm gonna remote in and work!

Sounds like an epic blast! We'll expect pics 'n ****!

Oh ya, you guys are old.

Nice! Wish I could go too. How about I go see you guys off at Moosehead's house, and help drink all your beer.

Have fun kids! I'd offer a place to stay but I don't live far enough away to be of any help.

All I can do sit here at home and watch you guys ride away off into the sunset.

As for me.... no where special this year.

Well if you two get decide to visit flatlandistan I have tools, tire changer, normally have a spare set of tires, oil and filters, and tent space.

I'd have you over in our little hut...but it is flat, straight and boring around here...plus we have great traffic around here and lots of people who don't know how to drive.

I'll see you guys on the road somewhere's or on the intardwebs...

...have fun you HOSERS!!!!!

When you get to Oregon I have a shop, camping space, spare room and a barn full of animals that have already been molested by forum members. Usually beer in the shop fridge.

Moosehead and FJRob1300: I am marking up the AAA Map of Baja California for you Hosers with Papa Chuy's recommendations from riding the Baja Peninsula for the last 45 years, I'm giving you lots of inside information that most Gringos and Frostbacks don't know about.

You're welcome to stay at Casa de Stanley en El Barrio del Chandler, Zonieland. Depending on custody days with Son Seth, I'll ride into Mexico with you as far as either Ensenada or San Felipe. Definitely Son Seth and I'll ride along with dos Canucks to the Grand Canyon eh.

Thanks everyone. There's nothing better than sharing your adventures with friends.!

Only 50 Rob? Pup!

I will be working our annual outage through May 24, so I can't play when you are close by. I would offer accomodations and beer, but I don't think you want to be this far east. Sounds like a great trip.

Wow! What a great response. I'm doing the route planning and logistics, and I have assigned Rob to be the social convener. I am so excited about this trip. Hope to see many of you along the way.

Now THAT'S an awesome map.

Now all you have to do is get going and let the tracking function on your spot fill in the spaces between your stopover locations. You damn Canuckians have all the fun!

...Be sure to be talking Blackhawks hockey whilst on your trip in June...I'm sure they'll still be playin'.

Yo Moosehead, I see You and The Goalie riding between Mexicali and Loreto in a single day! Trust me, unless you ride at night that will not happen. It's 700 miles, but on the slowest roads you've ever ridden on. You absolutely don't want to ride at night in Mexico, es muy Peligro. Animals en Los Caminos!

In addition to 700+ miles on busted up pavement (Asphalt Contractors in Mexico are the Brother In Laws of the Current Governor!), in that stretch you'll be subjected to 4 separate inspections by Los Federales. Each Military Checkpoint inspection will take a minimum of 30+ minutes. More for Canucks.

PLEASE NOTE: I'm not making politics here, since Canada has trade with countries the US doesn't: Canadians have a rep as weapons smugglers!

Maria Elena got a pass because she's beautiful, they wanted to flirt with her and see her moto. Mike and Rob, you are muy Feo- no passes for you!

Plus, if you hit the checkpoint at San Ignacio after dark you can expect an hour for a very thorough inspection by the Mexican Army - es Verdad!

Any Cartel, Bandito or Narcotraficante activity in Mexico occurs under cover of darkness, the young Mexican soldiers are trigger happy at night!

I'll assist in your border crossing obtaining your Mexican Tourist Permit and escort you to the base of La Rumorosa Grade, Mexicali traffic sucks!

Also on your return June 10 you show you will be spending the night at either Bahia de Ballenas or Laguna San Ignacio; it's hard to tell from map.

Please be aware both of those destinations, either Punta Abreojos or El Almacen, are on extremely sandy roads; I barely made them on a GS!

I'd also offer beer and a place to sleep for a night, but not sure that you would want to head this far (2 hrs east of Toledo) northeast in Ohio.
