I hit some construction as well a couple weeks ago. But I wouldn't call it lots. The bridge at Cheticamp, and few spots around Antigonish. I didn't catch which direction you were travelling, but the west side of the Cape is some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen.

Stop at the Lobster Gallery on the east side. I stopped their for lunch mid day and the waitress sat down with me just to chat a while :)

Oh, and according to the locals, stay away from Meat Cove; "unless you want to wake up in the morning with one ball". Guess they'll have to fight Dar for it though LOL!

We're sitting in the sun, on the edge of a bluff, overlooking the ocean with a sunset working it's way down, drinking Schooner, with a stiff but warm breeze blowing through our hair. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I saw a couple of FJR's at a restaurant, so I pulled in. Turns out it was a family of 4 from France I think(they had large square orange licence plates). The husband and wife each drove one and they had one kid on each bike. They didn't speak a word of English and I didn't speak a word of French but we talked about our bikes for about half an hour. Apparently FJR is a universal language.

Ignorant Upper Canadians...............we passed you going thru Judique. We were in the red van waving like crazy. I'm sure that you wanted to wave back but you thought it was safer to keep both hands on the bars.

Ride safe,

Canadian FJR

GREAT trip there Mike! :clapping: Thanks for sharing the report with us.

I love the following story you shared...

....They didn't speak a word of English and I didn't speak a word of French but we talked about our bikes for about half an hour. Apparently FJR is a universal language.
Classic! :)

Sorry Scott & family, but we only wave to other bikers, not crazy people in minivans.

Yesterday we road the Sunrise Trail and then stayed at Bikers B&B in Truro. Our host Mike was very friendly and interesting. The place was beautiful and of course he has an FJR.(that he actually rents to people too).

Today was the Glooscap trail ending in Frederickton. Mem and Mark showed up on their FJR's and took me for a fun ride around the area while Dar rested up. Then Mem picked us up in her car and took us on a tour of Frederickton. The 4 of us had a great meal at a Greek restaurant and Mark refused to let us pay. Thank you so much. People are so nice here.

Tomorrow is Acadia Park in Maine and then whatever fun roads I can conjure up.

Mem is a great host! She gave me the tour of Freddy as well. Very nice city and I think it'll be a great spot for CFR2011!

I'm thinking she and Mark are the official FJR welcoming committee in New Brunswick :)

Aw shucks, guys. You're too kind

It's easy to be a good host to FJR riders. You're GOOD peeps ! :yahoo:

Today was leaving good old Canuckistan and heading to Maine. We spent most of the day in Acadia National Park. We had lots of time, so we spent it wisely.......watching the surf. After the park we stopped at a wood fired lobster pound and had a wonderful lobster and mussels supper. I think I want to live on the east coast. The smell of the ocean, seafood and nice friendly folks everywhere.

We took a route back thru Hurricane Mtn road. It seemed a bit bumpier than I remembered, maybe just cause we were coming from the other end. Stayed near Montpelier that night. Next day was Rt 17, lots of fun. A ferry ride accros Lake Champlain. Spent all day riding smooth twisty roads is NY. Ended in Tupper Lake.

A guy drove up in an 07 FJR. His name is Wayne and it turns out he lives in Tupper Lake and was out for a loser lap. We drank beer and told stories until after dark. He's not a forum member but he's been all over with his bike. I think he's got 78,000 miles already. Dar just rolled her eyes when he drove up.

There was a live concert down by the beach which we heard but didn't get a chance to visit.

Then on Saturday we slabbed it back home.

We had a great time out east. Third time for me and second time for Dar.

If you're looking for friendly faces, great scenery and fantastic seafood then Out East is the place to go.

Thank you to everyone for your hospitality, Mike & Dar

Mt Desert Island is the best, eh? I'd sure love to live there.

And I agree the roads in the Adirondacks sure are nice. Someone is paying a lot of money getting them all repaved.

I think Joann and I saw Tupper Lake Wayne too, when we stopped there this summer on our vacation.

We had just got back to our room from taking a dip in the Motel's pool when a Black Cherry rolled through the parking lot and stopped behind our FJR. He ogled it for a bit and then rolled away before we could get out to greet him.
