I have been an FJR Forum Member since October and I have often wondered how many of you out there are Active Duty or Veterans.

Me I am a Veteran served 7 years in the US Army, got out as Staff Sergeant (E-6) in 97. Must say the Military was the best thing I ever did for myself, I'm a big supporter of the Military and lifetime member of the VFW. Would surely like to ride with my Military brothers and sisters.

There are quite a few Veterans here. Check out this thread.

I served 6 yrs 8 mos from 63-70. One tour in Nam, 18 months in Dominican Republic 65-66 with 82nd Airborne. It was also the best thing I could have done for myself. I got out as a captain.

Proud US Army vet, 1984-1986, both brothers are Navy vets, one with two tours in 'Nam.

I would be proud to ride with any of our veteran brothers, and you are always welcome in my home.

(and if you ever ride on one of my flights... free drinks! just don't tell). :drinks:

US Army Vet. Active Duty in Darmstadt, FRG '83 - '85, Army Reserve '85 - '89. Best thing I ever did for myself, as it allowed me to go to college afterwards.

I agree the best thing I ever did.

US Navy - 84 to 92. EM1(SS) (E-6, Electrian's Mate 1st class submarines)

From Phoenix in the Arizona FJR Forum and there are probably more than we know:

Vietnam Era: Wolfhound - Sergeant Robert Ashby and BeemerDonS - Sergeant Don Stanley; and Major Robert Flanders - Dr. Bob - MASH Unit Officer in Vietnam. All three of us were in the United States Army.

Later Service: vectervp1 - Sergeant Art Montoya - US Army. SkooterG - Annapolis Naval Academy Graduate and US Navy Officer.

Also, "BIG-D" - Dan Compton from Lake Havasu City, Arizona was 20+ career enlisted man in the Unites States Navy.

Hey....any significance to the AF with your avatar? I was in the old 4th mobile communications group when it was at Altus AFB in Oklahoma back in 75-77. Our mascot was the Roadrunner.

Still in communications today thanks to my AF training. Although the technology has progressed quite a bit since then. :dribble:

RayW,

No Military reference to the Road Runner, I named my 1st bike that back in the 70's after the Road Runner cartoon show because I like to run down the road all day and not even the coyote (Police) can get in my way… lol

Hey RayW,

I lived at Altus from '67 -'69 when my dad was an ops officer for the refueling wing there. Then in '78 I went through for a C-5 loadmaster tech school. Stayed in, at Travis AFB in California, until '87.

You have my sympathies. :D

Altus was an odd place. I remember one year they painted the grass in the median on Broadway (I think) green. Grass was normally only green for a couple weeks out of the year. It looked like they ran out of paint, or the guys took a break, just before the end of the median strip though. The last 5 feet or so was still brown.

So you just missed us in 78. They disbanded the 4th MOB in 77 and I got a nice tour at Sembach Germany after that.

Did they tell you the story about the fly that got into the simulater camera room??? Scared the crap out of some poor pilot in training when it landed on the camera lens.
