Today I had to visit our company's branch in Pittsfield, MA. From where I live in Ct its about a 2 hour ride, mostly nice up RT8 & then RT7. On the way back I was perhaps being a little to wrist happy just north of the CT border. About 1/2 mile from the line (according to my GPS) I came around a nice sweeper face to face with John Mass Law going the other way. My V1 lit up instantly and the last I saw of of him were his brake lights. I really don't know if he turned around. I kept checking but didn't slow until I crossed into the Nutmeg state. It was about 4 PM, maybe he was going home? Good omen for the weekend :yahoo:

It is your day, sir!

If I were only 1/2 mile from being out of his jurisdiction I'd have just appplied more throttle until I saw the "Welcome to Connecticut" sign. And then taken a side road from there for a bit. Nice part about a GPS is you can take a little detour like this and still get home in a timely manner.

Yesterday was my day as I walked away from a lowside.

I'm not sure if this is accurate but I was always under the impression that if a LEO is in "hot pursuit" they can follow you over town, county, city and/or state lines. For all I know it might be BS. I'm also not sure whether they have to call in the local jurisdiction to issue the summons. I would chalk your experience up to good luck, karma, or whatever preference you have. :D

I wouldn't be one bit surprised to learn that LEO's have pre-arranged agreements to cross boundaries as needed in particular situations.

Couple years ago I saw an SUV with a woman driving a buck plus. Getting near the border a California CHIP was in hot chase. I crossed the Oregon border, and a few miles beyond there was the SUV stopped with CA and OR Staties all over it. Yeah, if they want you they'll get you.

You got it correct. You were speeding in HIS state, he'll come and get you if he wants. I've had a similar situation happen. He dabs his brakes, knowing you'll see his brake lights in your mirrors. He wants you to slow down, but you weren't going quite fast enough for him to want to take the time and hassle to write you a ticket. Or perhaps he wasn't in the mood to make a stop, but wants you to know that HE knows you were speeding, and seeing his brake lights might slow you down a little. If you were going faster, he WOULD turn around and write you up.

You got a little lucky. Remember that on your next ride, and hopefully your luck continues.

Oh man, I'm soooo glad that was'nt me. I know exactly where you were, I was there last weekend, and the weekend before, usually doing triple digits, maybe he was waiting for me. Next week I'll go up 22. :assassin:
