Red Rocks State Park just west of Denver is an amazing site if you have never been there.

And Lookout Mountain, which is on I-70 just west of Red Rocks has a spectacular view of all of Denver and has the Buffalo Bill museum and grave site.

For those planning on going down to Pikes Peak just west of there at Canon City is the Royal Gorge bridge which is the highest suspension bridge in the world at over 1,150 feet above the Arkansas River below it.

Garden of The Gods state park in Colorado Springs is an impressive geological rock garden.

And, there is always the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs.

If the discount deal with Spyderco comes through, I am definitely planning on heading over there to purchase a new blade.

The amphitheatre isn't all that exciting if nothing is going on, but hey if you want to see the rocks, go for it. I have that entire concert on video somewhere.

Well, I don't know about Buffalo Bill's grave, its all covered up any way. Used to be a nice little bar & grille just west of the grave site and museum, great view of Golden and Denver from the top of the mountain very impressive after dark..........................and don't forget your designated driver.

Ya know, I routed and planned a trip thru Glacier, Yellowstone, and then down thru the Golden area into Dallas and back from Seattle. Trouble is, I planned it for the end of May so the "south of Denver" section wouldn't be so killer hot.

Now I have to completely rethink my position.

Damn you.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT: Buffalo Bill is a distant cousin of mine.....actually he married a cousin a long way down in my Dad's family line.

Fun in Denver (and not too far away from NAFO):https://www.casabonitadenver.com/

Food is Mexican and okay.....the rest of the place is unique/touristy/fun.
I can't believe this place is still open..! As a kid, my parents took me to dinner there over 30 years ago.
If you have happy memories from then, don't go now :)

I was there last March. It looked like a fun time for kids and their parents...otherwise, eh... (my $.02)

16th Street Mall is great, ESPNZone (WALL OF TVs!!!), Cheesecake Factory, cinema, microbrew (can't think of the name), and other places.

Parking won't be cheap tho :glare:

The whole front range has SO many good micro-breweries, I'm game for organizing a pub-crawl to see the best of the best.

Rent or steal a van, get a DD, then hit the road in search of lipulin.<G>

Who's with me?

New Belgium has some good beers, but you don't need to go as far as Fort Collins for a great microbrew. Boulder has a number of breweries (Avery, Boulder Beer, Twisted Pine). Longmont has the Pumphouse Brewery, and one of my favorites, Left Hand Brewery. But the place I would recommend is Oskar Blues in Lyons, just north of Boulder on the way to Rocky Mt NP. They have great beer, try Dale's Pale Ale, Old Chub scottish ale, or my favorite Gordon (they describe it as somewhere between an Imperial Red and a Double IPA, 8.7% ABV). The restaurant features Cajun food and they have live music.

I do have a couple of vehicles about an hour from Golden, but no van. We might be able to arrange something.

Ahh, a kindred spirit (as in fellow beer snobs unite!)!! Coming from the PNW, those Rocky Mountain beers will have a lot to live up to! ;) A 15 passenger van w/ driver runs $50 - $75/hr in Denver. That'd be the way to go. I'll even pony up for the first hour. (Unless of course Richard Branson's brought his Virgin Limo Bike service to Denver by then. FJR taxis. Appropriate for NAFO, don't you think?)

I don't think you will be disapointed with the beer selection in Colorado. Denver ranks first in the nation in beer production per capita and second in the number of breweries. There are more than 100 breweries statewide, each with its own style and flare. Colorado's capital city of Denver brews more beer than any other city in America.

I'll keep my eye open for those Virgin FJR taxis. How many people do you think we could fit on the back of one of them. I'm thinking four if we stack them properly. :(
