Looking to leave from the dealership I work at in Brea, CA at 6m on Sat July 23rd to go up to watch. Ride back via 101 on Monday. Any suggestions?
DEER! Never crossed my mind. What time are they prevalent? What areas? Not my choice of when to leave but we have a skeleton crew due to the fact that we work the Ducati merchandise booth at the US MotoGP races. You want to avoid riding at night?
I'm up here in Arroyo Grande. I can offer some excellent routes from Santa Barbara north. Though I grew up next door to you in La Habra, that was getting close to 30 years ago and I avoid riding (or even driving) in that direction like the plague!
If you leave Brea at 6 pm, that's gonna put you through our good moto-roads at "Deer-thirty o'clock!"

Thanks! We will be riding back Monday during the day though. There is a myriad of what could be be considered epic twisty ways to get Laguna Seca as you pass through SLO County but travelling through at nightfall and/or in the dark sort of defeats the real value of riding these roads. Deer are abound EVERYWHERE on these "off-the-beaten-path" roads in the evening and nightime hours as well as early morning. That's when they move to forage and head for water. Hell, they even get pummeled on Hwy 101 on a regular basis.
Here's one pretty easy option to travel that will get you into some nice twisty action on Hwy 33 probqably before you lose daylight but the latter part would be on major roadways at dark thirty.

If I were doing a daytime trip and wanted epic twisty, here's how I'd roll...
