Can any of you Indy locals suggest a good hotel that is close to the track?

I'm going to try & beat the rush, and maybe a rate increase?

Tom

Tom,

My guess is that the attendance will be nowhere near Nascar or F1, so, I think hotels will be in abundance. Would be nice if they allowed camping at the track.

For hotels, click this link and then select 'Nearby Hotels'

Thanks Randy,

Camping would be great, but my wife is going to be riding along & she is way past the days of sleeping in a tent in the snow at Summit Point, BTDT.

Dave Despain said on Wind Tunnel it will be September 12-14th.

I'm going for sure never seen a bike race in person. :clapping:
Bill
Having never seen a bike race in person, your pretty close to Mid-Ohio which is one of the best AMA events IMO. August 3-5, I'll be there on Sunday.

That is tempting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first "bigun bike race" was Laguna Seca MotoGP last year. It was alot like DisneyWorld( the ambient temp was higher than Orlando that day i bet) for Motorcyclists. The logistics were horrible if you were not riding your bike. I was on my FJR but others in our group were taking the shuttle and we waited on them for Hours at the old Army fort. And, the track was literally melting in front of our own eyes. Other than that it was a blast.

I'll bet that the Brickyard knows how to put together a good time for a race.

:yahoo:

Thanks for the heads up!!!!

Here's what I went for: (just in case other FJR folks want to try to sit close)

Reserved Seating

Quantity: 5

Choice 1: J STAND ($125 ea)

Choice 2: SOUTH VISTA SECTION 1 - 5 ($125 ea)

Choice 3: SOUTHWEST VISTA ($125 ea)

Choice 4: E PENTHOUSE ($150 ea)

Price covers entry and a seat for all 3 days!!!!

Me, probably Mrs. Quick, and BlueDevil are in.

That's leaves 2 more in my block.

PM me if you are interested in putting dibbs on one of them. (we don't have to pay until the tickets are issued)

I think it would be cool to ride in as a group of FJRs.

I'm a local (about 20 miles from the Speedway), so backyard cooking and even a couch could be had if your nice. Bluedevil already has dibbs on the spare bedroom.

I did the F1 race last month. Parking was about like going to the mall on a weekday in December.

It was surprisingly easy. Remember they do over a 1/4 million people for Indy car in May.

60 - 90K people is pretty insignificant to these guys.

Finding a spot to spreadout in the bleachers probably won't be an issue either.

Called Indy today to see whats up. The applications will be finalized next month and they will charge your credit card then. They will not mail out the tix until next spring or summer. Parking will be in lot closest to your tickets. I don't know where parking will be for general admission.

The person told me that since it was a new event and that I had registered on the first day, I was almost certain to get my first choice and would not go below my second choice.

Work on the track is on schedule and FIM was there last week inspecting the track and allegedly happy with the work so far.

Tickets were posted to my visa card a couple of days ago. They made a mistake and billed me for eight tickets instead of four. Now, I'm not sure I'll even need the four. May have a couple for sale. Anyway....Corner 7 Terrace, Sec 17, near the top.
