Last Saturday a motorcyclist was traveling down I-5 heading north. He decided to take the Hwy 113 exit on the north side of town for reaching his destination of travel. From the time you take the exit till you get to the "T" intersecrion controlled by traffic lights and warning signs is sppoximately 1/4 of a mile.

Here is where the Oh!what the helll is he doing". The rider on the motorcycle did not stop at the "t" intersection and went through and flew in the air for about 30-40 feet with him seperating and landing first than the bike but not landing on him. He was killed on impact.

There were city park workers that were working in the area and watched the whole thing happen. The workers said you could hear the engine roaring as if the throttle was stuck. The rider of the mo torcycle was 46 yrs. old. :(

It just goes to reminds us that any time any place we could be meeting our final destiny.

Based on your description this is what I think, conjecture as it is.

There are two potential reasons for motivation for the act, both of them are predicated by his believe that the on ramp for I-5 was the other side of the T. He may have been in traffic and using the off/on ramp as a means to pass people he got frustrated with, or he took the exit, realized the mistake and wanted back on I-5. Either way, the mistake of thinking the on-ramp was opposite the T was his undoing.

IMO.

When I got off of work sunday night at about 745pm....I hit the overpass hitting 360 south from dfw airport when I saw some ambulances on the bottom of the 360 to 183west overpass. As I passed over 183 I saw a scoot down on the overpass.....he went over the barrier......right where I went down. My heart dropped. My day was wrecked. I still can't remember what happened. Yeah......bad day....for someone....who died.

my two cents:

intentional...

could have overwhelming, to him, debts, divorce, work issues...

seems to me that the rapid acceleration caused by the roaring motor could be mitigated by holding the clutch in???

That would require enough experience to make it a reflex. Lord knows I've had to do that while feathering the rear brake in some situations, but it took some practice to do it right. He was 46, how long riding?

Either way it still sucks, for him!

Not anymore...he is dead to this world now. Sucks still for those that cared for him though.

Something that could have happened and can happen to any one of us whether we are on our bike or in a car, and that is be a diebetic and go into insulin shock and that would be the result. Not know or having the awareness to function as a normal person not bveing a diebetic.

This happened to a friend of mine who was a teacher. Where he lived in the country just out of Woodland Ca.about 3 miles. He was going home heading down the road as he has done many times before in the last 20 years. Except he needed to make a left turn at the end of the road because there was a gravel plant at the end of the road "Teichert ". He did not slow down to make the turn and continued atraight on the road leading into the gravel plant, where there was dump trucks, front end loaders , semis, and he just kept going. A front end lloader was comming up out a pit and heading down the road when he saw him it was to late and the driver ( he drove a volkswagen bus) ran into the loader and killed him instantly. he was a dieabetic and went itno insulin shock.

He was going to retire at the end of that school year.

So if any riders out there are a dieabetic make sure you check your meds and be safe
