A written work is about an idea or concept. To help the reader understand and enjoy it, the explanation or narration is broken down into units of text called the paragraph. A paragraph is a self-contained unit of a discourse in writing dealing with a particular point or idea. Paragraphs consist of one or more sentences. Yes, one-sentence paragraphs are okay. The start of a paragraph is indicated by beginning on a new line. In an essay or on a motorcycle forum, each paragraph explains or demonstrates a key point or thought of the central idea, usually to inform or persuade. All paragraphs support each other, leading the reader from the first idea to the final resolution of the written work. On motorcycle forums paragraphs are usually separated by the use of blank lines and no indent (these are sometimes known as "block paragraphs").
