My friend took this short video of me practicing the MSF course. I modified it a bit by not only doing the two figure eights in the rectangular, but also doing little circles within the rectangle.

I know some folks think you will not need to know how to turn tight circles but here in Japan the roads are very small in places. If you can't turn around within your own lane you maybe stuck for awhile.

I would love to see it but those links do nothing for me.

The first one we would need your log in to get it.

The second one doesnt seem to have the video in it.

Very nice riding... I like to do something similar (riding in circles/figure 8's) whenever I can find enough open space in the parking lot at work. I'll do a couple when I'm leaving to go somewhere, or on my way back from someplace. Probably raises a few eyebrows, but who cares... it's great practice.

Jim, I changed the links in my first post. Can you try it again and let me know if you can view the short video. Is anyone else having difficultly viewing the video?

This is the first video I have ever tried to to place on a message forum. Don't know if I did it right. Thanks.

I was unable to watch the video. The first link asked for a password. The second required downloading a player, which I did but still couldn't see the clip.

Good work on the tight circles but you seem to have a problem staying inside the white lines of the big circles!

Nice video.

The first link still asks for a password with an already displayed username of "FJR-Kevin"

The second link works fine

Is that the MSF course the Navy uses?

Those buildings sure look Navy issued :D

Unfortunately yes, this is the MSF course the Navy uses on this base. There is no room (parking lot) big enough to have it any place else. The building are very old and still in use, believe it or not. I think the building are still the originals from when the Japanese own this base.

Are you looking to the center on the small circles?
It does look like I'm looking at the center of the small circles but what I'm really doing is looking where I want the bike to go.

My friend took this short video of me practicing the MSF course.
That is cool!

Great demonstration of low speed turns and speed control!

Thanks for posting this.

John
Thank you for your comments! When my students can't do the exercise with little 250's and 400's in the box or the "S" turn, I jump on my bike and show them it can be done...even with a big bike like the FJR.

It's funny sometimes, because after my demonstration they all go over to my bike and ask what I did to it to make it do that.

+1 I can't see it.

From what I read I guess you are an MSF instructor. DO you guys use different material then what we get here from MSF? I teach in IL.
