I do a lot of stop and go riding in traffic on my ae; to and from work. I found that by adjusting my idle to around 1050 rpm, I am able to put along and trail brake when needed as slow as 3 mph, without the clutch disengaging. Its important to not brake to much or you will lose power. If you up the idle abit, you will find yourself concentrating more on the friction zone of the brake and not having to worry about throttle control as much. Its kind of like setting cruise control for the continuous power, and using the brake to control the speed.

You really can't slip the clutch on an ae, except when starting from a full stop.

Try adjusting the idle up a little. That should help. Good luck.

+1, at 1050 rpm my AE stays in gear at idle from a deceleration. I actually didnt like this and dropped it to about 1000 and that is where the bike drops out of gear. I would think raising the idle up around 1050 would make the box a little less challenging.
