Garyahouse got #1 the answer is 3 DOG NIGHT....they sold a ton and were vary popular they had 21 consecutive Billboard Top 40 Hits.

Ok it's been a few days so here's the answer to #2.

GLEN CAMPBELL sold more records in 1969 than the BEATLES. His music crossed over to Pop that's why.

Poor Glen is I think 78 and suffering from Alzheimer's, his Wife recently put him in a nursing home.
