With all the talk of the newest and greatest, I thought I would share some pictures and info of my 05 FJR with now 205000 miles. As most of you know, I bought the bike from Patricia, Tim's wife AKA "Twowheelnut" whom both have sadly passed.

I bought the bike with 68k miles and It's been a great bike. It has never left me stranded. It still has the original clutch, starter alternator and engine. It still runs strong - burns about 1/2 quart every 5000 miles. I use Rotella synthetic oil and change it every 6000 miles - recently decided to change it every 5000 miles.

With that said, The bike has been showing it's age and it began to remind me of Skooter's Dirty ol whore - Well maybe not that bad but it was starting to get a little ruff so i decided to give it a make over.

I started with the plastics:

Over tightening of the bolt caused this.

Tank getting scratched from use and my Aerostich rubbing against it.

This is a Rick Mayer seat and you can't tell from the pictures but the stitching is starting to come apart.

The hook on the left bag started to wear down and came dislodged while i was riding. Could of lost the bag!

I service the bike at Lebard Underwood in La Habra ca. and the were nice enough to give me this bag that they had laying around.

After 125k the buttons were getting loose so i replaced them.

Brand new Ebc rotors

Got to go - I'm hungry! Will post more pictures later.

Happy Thansgiving!

Great to hear that if you take care of the FJR it will last a long time.

This show that this is truly a remarkable quality engine.

Also, I think Shell Rotella will work for me, since it has work for you for 200k miles.

Congratulations on the 200k milestone :)

Congratulations to such a remarkable milestone. As stated, keep it maintained and it will serve you for a very long time.

Well done!

I've seen the final results and gotta say the bike looks GREAT.

Get off the couch Steve and get them pix posted!

First a mileage whore, now an attention whore....... :finger:

Congrats man. So when are you predicting 300k?

It's amazing me to me how many miles Steve rides. He doesn't really go anywhere, it's just all the time riding. For a guy who sells cars, he sure rides motobikes alot!

Here's a pix of Tim's two bikes, the FJR and DL650, once again side by side.

Good stuff here peeps - Steve got the FJR, and is riding the :****: out of it, and I got Wabs... (only 150k more and I'll catch Steve's mileage on the FJR!)

I hope peeps will enjoy this pix as much as I do..

Yep, it's looking really good. Steve paid me a visit a couple of weeks ago to fix a horn problem - and unless you know how many miles are on the bike there's no way you'd think it was at that mileage. I think Steve has been honoring Tim's memory by maintaining the F*&k out of the bike. And it shows.

Damn nice, Steve. Tim's grinnin at ya. ;)

It's nice to see the FJR will really go the distance. I hope to see that mileage on my bike someday. I wish I had that much free time to ride. I owned my bike just under 4 years now and just hit 30k.

Very nice. It's nice to know that 200K miles is reasonable for a well maintained FJR. I have about 130K on my '05 now and it has been using about the same amount of oil as yours, a pint between changes. One of the major reasons I enjoy my FJR so much is the fact that it is so reliable that I can travel far from home and not worry about it breaking down. As mine has aged I have been wondering how much longer I can count on that level of reliability. It looks like I have at least a few more years to go. :)

That's a great milestone. Not to start an oil thread but have a friend who put me on to the Rotella, has over 200k on his Goldwing with it.
