I feel sorry for this guy in odd sort of way. The BMW is a nice bike as is the FJR but each is different. That this poor soul can't distinguish the differences is sad at best. I wonder if he should continue to ride. This dude is a bit outta touch. Crazy yeah but I hope he is crazy loaded and not crazy out of touch.

I bet most of us can sit on a bike and quickly identify if it will work for us. A 20 minute test ride will tell me what farkles I need to make a bike fit.

IDK, I guess this fella was quite impulsive and thought this bike would be a catch for him. The other day I was at a Beamer dealer in Fife and sat on one of them BMW K1200LT, told wifey, didn't feel right, but when I saw that price tag, I jumped off, polished the seat and walk away...Those guys are as crazy as the ones from HundredDollar!!!

K1200LT has extremely poor resale value and suffers from chronic final drive issues since bmw in its infinite wisdom elected to mount the same FD on an 800+ lbs bike that it also used on 500+ lbs bikes. Add to that the complexity and expense of "servo assisted" power brakes, and expensive service costs..... once you learn about this bike, you try to avoid it...

Hadn't heard about FD problem but there were soooooo many other issues with a Buddys 2002 Model. And now he's on a 2012 GS1200.

My neighbor JUST bought this bike after riding my '03 and wants to sell it already! Wish i had the $$$!!!
Maybe the '03 is more comfy than the '12.

Personally, I'd take the $10,000 price difference and the $2-400 difference in Ins. prem. and ride my GenI to the Bank........

and about anywhere else on this continent.

I have a buddy that's been through 7 cars/trucks, 6 motorcycles and 4 houses in the last 8 years.

Must be nice to have more money than brains.

That you consider this guy a buddy is very disturbing.

Ha...He's an epic friend. He was in charge of the academy when I went through. He's a hellavua fighter, a great shooter, and as loyal a friend as anyone could be. We spent years on SWAT together, and I used to spot him while he benched 400+ lbs. The times the **** really hit the fan, I'm glad he was there to have my back.
When I changed agencies, he went federal and is now a supervisor for a federal law enforcement agency. He makes great money, but makes bad choices when it comes to women.

It was his Triumph ST1050 that pushed me over the edge to buy my FJR.

Oh well...We all have our flaws I guess.

Beemers are nice, except for the price tag, and the sound at idle. I can fill a coffee can with rocks for a whole lot less.

'........my recent health problems have prohibited me from the lowered and leaning riding position.'

Same thing here, so I added 10deg. risers - job done!

I think he may be looking at the fancy BMW scooter?
