Well i walked into the dealer & to my surprise the sales guy that sold me the bike was standing right inside (so he no chance to hide) I walked up to him & he said , Hey hows it going gerard , are you enjoying the FJR. (so he remembers me  ) I tell him it`s great & can`t wait untill i get it out some more. Then i told him that the service guy called me about the recall on the bike & was going to pick up the bike to do the work. He said fantastic , & then i dropped the bomb on him. I told him that the service guy was trying to sell me the 16,000mi service for a little over $200 & change (discount , because the tank was off & top tree was off) & yes it had 16,300mi`s when i bought it. I said that the bike was advertised as fully serviced & that he told me (the salesman) it was done also & i was good to go & just ride it. Well as it stands now, is that they can`t find what was done when they took it in on trade & after the sales dept & service dept started bickering back & forth for over an hour. They will do the full service on tuesday when they pick up the bike to do the recall. I was so polite thru the whole thing , i almost exploded for keeping my anger inside , thru out the whole deal & shook everyones hand that was involved with this and went to work. As for working on my bike , yes i can do just about everything on it (been riding & working on bikes for 32 years) so theres no problem there. The only thing i can`t do to it is sinc the throttle bodys , only because i don`t have the tool (fell off shelf & broke)

So we`ll see tuesday.

Great job! Congratulations.

Not only did you get what you thought you'd already bought, you taught a lesson.

Even though it cost some you anger and time it sounds like they handled it for you. Good on them! :clapping:

Good you kept your cool. Makes you look much more factual and the service guy obviously wanted to help you.

Glad you got the service and even after all of this it sounds like this is a place you can trust the service side = and get the sales side in writing.

Hey Shawn, I'm over here in Hartford at New England Cycle Center just off I91 at the Jennings Rd Exit. Drop on in for a cup of coffee sometime. I'm here Monday - Friday 2pm to 8pm.

Hey! That's not too far from me at all and in an area I often wander around in. OK...I'll see you Thursday around 2...I'll bring the doughnuts. :)

Free donuts??? Damn! I rode by your place on Thursday (up 91 to 291) to go to our branch in S Windsor. 2nd day out on the bike this Winter.

If I only knew!

My bad - I tried riding up there on Thursday but my Gerbing gloves gave out (!) halfway up there and I had to turn back. But it was a nice ride so I'll definitely be up there when it warms up a bit more.

And yes - I'll still bring doughnuts. :)

 I'll have the coffee ready. I understand the feeling when the gloves give out. I rode my wifes Piaggio MP3 into work Thursday and although the jacketliner was running all toasty warm, I wish I had my FJR heated grips.

Hey CTFJR, I'll keep the coffee hot for you also. B)

Boy this thread just made a u-turn on the last couple of post (guys get a room  )

Well back on track , the dealer still has my bike  , i was put on hold when i called & had to get back to work so i hung up. They picked it up tuesday the 10th at noon & have had it since . I hope they didn`t mess anything up , or i figured since they have to work on my bike for free there put it on the side & work on the money making bikes first. I will go there on tuesday to see whats going on with it, & hope to get it back home soon , as my wings are getting lonely with out it.

Well picked it up tonite :yahoo: (just a little cold) & all i have to say is it runs great & smooth (a little better than before) Got on the road & just wanted to blast off , but wifey was following me & didn`t know here way back home from dealers new location , so being the good husband i did the speed limit. (yes it killed me)

Funny thing is the wife calls it the small bike , since it`s smaller than my Roadstar & goldwings.
