I use an iphone4 with the Sena smh10. While I find the volume of the phone is more than loud enough with my foam ear plugs, it was less than adequate for music. I fiddled with the music and volume settings on the iphone to no avail and finally resorted to boosting the signal of my tunes by 20% using an audio editing software tool. That solved the problem. You do have to be careful not to boost the signal too high or you will get distortion. 20% was an average for me.

Were you aware that there is a way to increase the maximum volume from your Sena headset? I forget the exact sequence, and it is only a single step that it can be incremented, but I cranked mine up and it seems adequate with 33 dB plugs in.
I wasn't aware of that. I thought they boosted the volume with one of the software upgrades, but maybe that upgrade only made additional volume available if selected. Time to go investigate......

I did the same thing to gain volume, but also to equalize the volume for all songs. Some were too quiet and others too loud! A free utility called mp3gain allows you to make those adjustments automatically in batches (all files on your Zumo SD card or just certain folders). Works great!

Yes, nearly forgot that I did that to all of my MP3 collection a few years ago. This was more for the equalization than the increased volume, but it had that effect on about half of the music that was recorded softer than average. I used "MP3gain"

Yes, this was delivered in a firmware upgrade a while back. I believe it was the 4.2 release? And it does require a few button pushes to put it in higher volume mode.

Maybe there should be thread for guns here.... seems theres something for everything else.. LOL
I seriously doubt that there's ever been a thread on here about guns. Nobody on this board carries or uses them.

But this is an awesome thread on ear protection.

Let's not fook it up with guns.

Uh, please speak for your self. While I agree we're not looking for discussions on guns in a motorcycle forum, likewise I don't talk motorcycles on my shooting related forums. But your statement about "Nobody on this board carries or uses them." Well, not quite factual, by a long shot I am quite sure.

Ed

I spent most of my money on guns, motorcycles, women, and whiskey. The rest I just wasted!

Uh...Ed, Wheaties was being facetious.

At my age, my hearing is the only thing that still works. I use ear plugs when operate any thing louder than my beautiful wife.

My choice: industrial type, Max Lite foam. AS/NZS 1270:2002 25dB.

They're very comfortable and easy to get

Daniel
