I signed up for my first 1000 mile rally the other day. I will start in Cairo Il. and finish in Cape Fear N.C. My brother and fellow forum member Mehaffydr will atempt this ride. Not sure why, but it sounds like a fun way to put a few thousand miles on my FJR ... Smitty

You just took a big step towards an event that very well could change your life.

Good for you! :clapping:

You end up liking it....you're very fortunate since you're very close to where the IBR starts this year in August. You can see what happens to people that go a little crazy with the rallies ;)

It will be good to see/meet another FJR in Wilmington. I am starting from Sarasota.

See ya there.

OH, NO, we've lost Smitty to the dark side :eek:k:

I need to put the time together to do that, go for it Smitty.

Smitty, how's that work? You just show up that day for registration, or you going up there the night before... not that it's all that far from Hooterville. Just trying to figure it out logistically to see if I can sneak it in.

EDIT: Oh, never mind. I went ahead and registered for the Rally from Cairo. I'll figure the rest out over the next 80 days.

The Green Tree INN is about out of rooms. Only Smoking rooms available as of 5 minutes ago.

Now to contemplate "the ride" and figure out whether to stay in Cairo, or just add that extra 250 miles onto the day.... Hmmm....ZZZZzzzzz... Think I'll get a room.

Since this thing ends in Wilmington NC, which is only a few miles from me, I guess I will just try to visit with you fine FJR folks at the finish.

I can't seem to find where the various starting points are listed. Sorry for being so IB-ignorant.

I'm thinking real hard about this one and leaning towards doing it. It's a tough time of year for me to get away, but I just wanna wanna! It would be a nice tune up for the Mason-Dixon 20-20 and a chance to bond with the new Zumo. It would be great to meet a lot of you in Wilmington.

If I do it, I'll be starting out of Salamanca, NY.

Went to sigh up.........it's closed. :dribble:

Maybe I'll ride down to Cario and see you guys off.

You might still be able to get in. Perhaps there will be a cancellation? Might want to email the Rally Master and ask if you could be first alternate? Just an idea...

Airboss,

If you miss out on the Cape Fear Rally there's always the MN 1000. Your less than a half days ride away.

Or the 12 hour Bonzai Rally in Wisconsin scheduled for May 27th.

Thanks, I'll keep checking rallymasters and team strange for info. With any luck maybe I could do both.

Why team stranger???? They seem fairly normal to me.

Since I already scheduled the time off, I may ride on down to Cario and get some pictures of the FJR riders start.

Ya never know when pictoral evidence will come in handy. Besides there are some good roads to ride in the deep south of Illinois. Il127 then back north tru the Shawnee National Forest.

Airboss did you get a room in Sikeston. Where?

Well see ya thursday night.
Mike,

Airboss) sez he's going to arrive at Sikeston about 5 PM or so. I'll be there around 5 or 6. Depends on whether I take the scenic route, and whether I get out of my office on time. If it works out, we may go to Lamberts for dinner. Then again, I may just choke something down fast and work on my routing. I'm staying at the Days Inn.

I'll see you and Darrell in Sikeston sometime Thursday.

Matt
