After reading all of the reports from others on here I have been wanting to do a SS1K for a while now but wasn't sure I was ready. I have done a few trips of multiple 400 mile days for a week or two but I have never ridden more than 600 miles in one day. I bought my bike in March of 08 and have 32,000 miles on it so it's not like I never ride I just dont do it all at once.

Friday night my wife tells me she wants to hang out with her friends on Saturday and that I should find something to do so I decided to give the SS1K a shot. I read up on the IB rules and tips planned my route. I left at 3am from Corona and headed up the 395 to Carson City. From there I cutt over the 88 to Stockton then down the 99 to Pacheco Pass. Headed over to Hollister and down the 25 to the 101 in King City. Took 101 down to Paso Robles and cutt across the 46 back to the 5 and back home at 9pm.

Overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and the only mistake I made was leaving my camera on the workbench. It probably didn't matter anyway as I was in get it done mode the whole ride and wouldn't have taken pictures anyway.

Now all I can think about is where to go next :D

Congrats on you ride! :clapping:

Now you are hooked. That is obvious, because you are already thinking about

the next ride. You have a list of about 117 choices, for me my SS1k was the most

"Noneventful" ride of them. It only gets better now! ;)

Enjoy your rides and once again congrats!

I was in get it done mode the whole ride...
Yep, that's what it takes. You'll fit in just fine. Big congrats to you, and welcome to the club.

PS. Don't forget to send in the paperwork. ;)

Congrats on the completion...I remember my first one. Neat feeling. When you arrived at your stop were you thinking another 500 miles is doable ??

Last night I was thinking NO but after a good nights sleep I would be ready to do another 500 today :D

Congrats on a ride well done!

After finishing mine, I knew another 500 miles was within reach, but gained a new appreciation for multiple day rally riders!

Right on! I have been thinking about doing this for a while. Now I am inspired. I did Oroville, CA to Denver in about 19 hours with stops (Not including the 6 hours of sleep in between) About 2400 Miles. Didn't get one receipt. Would do it again.

I should Thank you. I pretty much stole the route you posted from your ride. I only changed a few roads to make it work for me. And yes I agree those LD rally riders are nutz :D

I'm down. Problem really is that I am hauling the MRS. I will depend on you guys to convince her.

big congrats

I found it easier than I expected...all interstate at +10 speeds and no rushed stops for meals, pees, and butt breaks

I'm pretty sure that won't be the case when I try the desired BB1500G. Fall cooler temps and dry weather will be the day picked on that one.

Good luck with that. I asked my wife if she wanted to go and she just laughed

I would do the Canada ride with those guys except I have two issues:

1. No time off work

2. knowing the 1500 miles will be covered in about 10 hours with Richard in the lead :D

Planning on one this fall....I get more motivated everytime I see one of these :clapping:

Congrats Dan!!! :yahoo:

You are my hero. :D

I'm not sure I could pull it off, but it would be fun trying.... I think.

Awesome accomplishment you seem to have done it at an easy pace and you had 6 hours to burn. Most excellent!
