So I'm siting at an intersection on the bike about to turn left. I look left, I look right.........as I'm turning my head back left BAM! I finish rotating my head and what do I see...............

This pic taken from about 2 feet away where I was on the bike.

That truck was making a B-line for me. If it hadn't been for that pole I would have been broad sided at whatever speed she was going.

My head rotation was just enough to witness the truck finish coming through the pole coming right at me. When that pole broke the tension from the lines snapped the pole just 5 feet to my right, but it did not come down. What did come down was a cable/wire right dead in front of the bike.

Okay, so I realize I'm not dead, see movement in the truck and the large woman{seen left in above pic} gets out holding her chest screaming "my baby, my baby". So I put the bike on the stand run over with helmet still on to walk up and see an infant in the back car seat with blood on his face. Finally get my helmet off and get the infant out of the seat. He had a cut in his brow right over his eye. Wasn't to bad, about 5-8 stitches worth maybe. I keep rags in my bags to wipe my visor so I got one of those out to keep pressure on the wound until cops/EMT's got there. As I was treating the child the mother stated she started coughing and blacked out. No brakes nothing, full speed into the pole that separated us.

Gave my statement and rode home in a daze.

Just wasn't my day to die and thankfully not the drivers/passengers either.

I thought I took a pic of the cable laying in front of the bike but it's not on my phone, don't know what happened there but here's a couple more.....

I'd rather be lucky than good. B) Enjoy life, you just got a renewal on your lease.

Wow! Thank goodness everyone is o.k. Just another reminder of how quick things can change.

Glad you're alright.

:smile3:

These things would not happen if people just looked out of their front window more.

I like the way the truck ended up next to the drain so no mess.

Glad you're OK, and smart for not jumping on a green.

Man, you just got a new lease on life. Glad you weren't hurt. I think you deserve an extra beer tonite. Tell your family it's Doc's order.

Another story with a happy ending. Good to see you made it okay and it wasn't some family member posting up about you being in the hospital or worse. Lets keep our eyes open out there folks. Thanks again for posting up, it gives the rest of us pause to stop and think about what we would do in this situation and what would our exit strategy be. B)

not only were you able to avoid a wreck, you were able to de-pucker and care for the helpless. Kudos. B)
