I bought a Rear roadsmart and did not buy a new front yet (needed more beans) but I had to change my rear. My PR2 was done, I did not want to just leave the front alone since i was tinkering any way..

I looked around the garage and realized I had a half used PPower front that came off last change.

I thought, OK for me.. My front wears about 1/2 as fast as my rear.. and I might as well use it up.

So, now, I am running a PPower front, and a Roadsmart rear.

My ride report is.. this is my new preferred setup.. The RS rear does not have the transitional feel the PR 2 did as I lean past one compound to the other.. They seem very very stable..... And the RS heats up extremely fast

The PPower on the front of course sticks like glue.. I will probably buy another PPower front since they my front tire does not wear as fast as my rear tire,, that is the plan anyway.. I will know more when I actually do it.. I have been called fickle before.

But this is the most stable the bike has felt... with the exception or two PPowers.. but I cannot afford a new rear tire every 1800 miles.

Having run both the PR2 and the Roadsmart.. I prefer the roadsmart tire hands down

That is my thoughts. YMMV

I ran them hard today two up.. the PPower is a bit more sticky.. but is a very very short mileage tire.

I Noticed the profile on the RS is a bit flatter... I think this allows a bigger contact patch at more common lean angles.. I have made it to the edges of the RS tire long before I could have done on a PPower or a road 2.

Now for the way I ride.. It more suits me.. for extreme lean angles I would wonder. but I am really impressed. It is a fine tire.. I agree.

this is the first time I have ever mixed tires.. I know others that do.

I do not care for the road 2 tires having run a set out. But I do not care for the roads either.. and that is personal preference. I love the pilot powers.. They are extremely sticky.... but at 1800 miles a set. Unaffordable for most, myself included.

My combo seems to be a good mix **finger crossed**

Not sure about mixing them but I got to put my Roadsmarts through their paces today and they are fine tires.

Mixing isn't bad, if they're matched correctly.

I've run a Front RoadSmart with Rear Bt-021. Liked it so much, I bought a second set of that combo (rear 021 has all the grip of R/S, but longer life). In fact, that's the combo I'm going back to for winter, after finishing the current PR2s.

I gotta say my mileage did vary ! I wish I could've broke 6k with the RS . . . Sounds like you've got a great handling combo . :evo:

I don't think I have hit 6K with any tire. I did come close with the PR2, and mebbe I did. But my records were lacking for an honest answer.

I am not really looking for the longest lasting.. Money is important to me as I don't have enough to be tossing it around. I am looking for a balance.. I need a tire that gives my confidence in the turns.. and value at the wallet.

I am still searching.... but this one is fun for now and today was a very very nice day in the Mtns above my house..

I have heard the BT is a good tire and the other one I hear allot about is the strada.. I am trying the latest technology stuff for fun... Hopefully they are at least on the curve.. hehe

I can't afford to replace every 3500 to 6k either & found my best balance . Roads & riding style play a major part in the decisions we all make and seem to vary greatly. The PR2CT has been my longest lasting set so far but I'm a fairly mild rider . . . . :dntknw:

I been riding the same setup myself, which actually happen by accident because the crappy front Bt-021 :angry2: was done at 5K and I still had plenty of live on the BT-21 rear. This mix really seem to handle and work well together. Now after 9K the BT rear is pretty much done. This time when I replace the rear it will be a RS. If it doesn't handles as good as the rear BT or last as long, I too will stick with this mix setup.
