Topspeed, Hannibal is a reasonable place to stop...just be forewarned that heading down on the Illinois side of the Mississippi is straightsville river bottomland. I have no idea if there is a route in Iowa, but beware of the deathsnooze while riding that Sunday afternoon if you head down the Illinois side.

Thanks Mark, looks like Hannibal is Sunday nites lodging. Makes a pretty light mileage day at 377.82. Maybe a good idea after all the NAFO festivities. As of now, my route has me west of the Mississippi.

I still got a cold brew of choice coming your way, on me. (EOM?) as I think that's the one you're doing as of now?

You don't owe me any brew...but I'll drink it.

I'm just passing along routes that others passed on to me for free...Smitty, fjrrider, et al...

...and yes, I'll be at EOM. It's within an hour of my new place down here in SC...I've got to go. Wayne says so.

Oh yeah, I appreciate the tweak. I was just being stubborn to move the 2 nites lodging, but phone calls are easy enough.

Let's hope the brews are not as flat as those Belgium Wheat's that we had in Marietta... I'll be sending 'em back again if so!

Thanks again, see you in the Smokie's

Thank you! Love BBQ and one of the reasons I wanna hit Memphis. I have a couple of places that Guy visited (Diners, Drive-ins n Dives) that he bragged about as being the best BBQ that he has ever visited. So your fav BBQ recommendation is Rendevous at "O" - https://www.hogsfly.com/

Duly noted! :)

And yes, between Memphis and Nashville will be a crank up the 80's big hair bands channel on the XM radidio and drift back to my childhood ;)

CraigRegs can fill you in on some Iowa routing, but I ask you: Why the route through illinois as planned? From La Crosse you can ride south on the Mississippi River Road:

The Great River Road – The Best Drive in America - Experience Missisippi River

You could turn west in northern Iowa where believe it or not there are some great roads, then swing by this place for lunch:

Canteen Lunch In The Alley Ottumwa, IA, 52501 - YP.com

Craig and I rode there:

A Nice Day In Iowa - Ride Reports - FJRForum

Don't forget to stop by here:

Dreams Movie Site | Field Of Dreams Movie Site

You could still make your night stop and continue on your planned route.

Great work man!
Not much of a drinker any more but:

I forgot Backbone state park is in route too :

Strawberry point, Spook cave, great county roads…
Thanks Tony, I may be making a Rev2 map. Yours would be an easy fit, as I could still keep my 1st nights ressies in Hannibal.

The Field of Dreams POI and follow the river... incorporated/done!

...but that lunch stop (reviews were outstanding btw) is way to the West of my now planned river route. Anything good chow wise (in your notes) closer to the river, say around Davenport?

Every time I travel back to Iowa I can't wait to eat tenderloins…

If you can tough it out a little further than Davenport, a swing west will put you here:

Mt. Pleasant is home to Iowa’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin | www.iowapork.org

It won't be that far out of your way as you can continue south on #27/218 and reconnect with #61.

OR

*Stick to your route and hit this place :

Davenport - The Machine Shed Restaurant

Just got one thing to say about that.

MO 79 out of Hannibal to Louisiana is a must do.

US 54 West out of Louisiana will put you back on track and you'll still make lunch.

This can be easily added!, thank you airboss! and, as long as I bail West at Louisiana (town) I have no problem with this.

EDITED IN :)

I sent you a couple of route suggestions to you (facebook). One from Memphis to Nashville and one from Nashville to Maggie Valley.
Thank you so much, Gerry! :)

I incorporated your suggestions, added Mikes Urals as well [D]. Please correct me if I incorporated your Facebook texts incorrect. Also, I let the route (prior to Clifton) snap to slab. Any non-slab suggestions out of Memphis to connect into Clifton?

MemphistoNashville_a_zpsb673bf80.png

Thanks, Clocklaw. That looks tasty! That's on my route from Kansas City to Nashville on my way to EOM. I'll take a little detour and check that out. :D
