Well, not much better than the slab from Memphis to Jackson, but if you take the lower route (maybe US 72) through Corinth you can stop off at Shiloh on your way up to Savannah. Shiloh was faught over Corinth.....which was a railroad hub. If you detour through Adamsville you can stop off at the Home and Museum of Bufford Pusser.

I sent you a couple of route suggestions to you (facebook). One from Memphis to Nashville and one from Nashville to Maggie Valley.
Thank you so much, Gerry!

I incorporated your suggestions, added Mikes Urals as well [D]. Please correct me if I incorporated your Facebook texts incorrect. Also, I let the route (prior to Clifton) snap to slab. Any non-slab suggestions out of Memphis to connect into Clifton?

If you want to see the nasty one, from Nashville to EOM is a 9+ hour ride if you follow my route...check it out:

It takes you through Pikeville (first place I drug my sidestand and didn't crash), the Cherahala Skyway, Deal's Gap, Foothills Parkway and 32 at Cosby, TN. You might need a day to recover once you get to EOM

Thanks, Clocklaw. That looks tasty! That's on my route from Kansas City to Nashville on my way to EOM. I'll take a little detour and check that out.

Wow! Nice. I'll dip my toe into a piece of that. Not all of it cause I wanna hit Knoxville on the way in. Thanks! :)

You do want a piece of that, part of the route I use to get to my Sis's house in Greeneville, TN.

Maybe I'll connect in with 64 then to 100, which goes thru Chicasaw St Pk. It looks like that Route has the least amount of towns on it.

Dog gone you guys are killing me talking about all these NAFO to EOM ride plans! Although I have a room booked for EOM I have been considering not going and taking in the 2014 Super Tenere annual rally in in Harrison Arkansas in October instead.

Decisions, decisions. There is no way I can afford do NAFO, EOM and the Tenere rally. I know there are great people I want to see again at EOM but I have never been to a Tenere rally. The Tenere forum is not as cool but I am sure they are also great people when you meet them in person.

If you do, I highly suggest you take 32 out of Cosby all the way to the state line, it turns to gravel there (or it did the last time I was there) and depending on your gravel skills you may want to turn back.....if you do that, you will get to enjoy this road:

I've been eyeballing that route all day. Looks too good to pass up. I'll hit Knoxville some other time.

I think I'll pass on the gravel with so much luggage on my bike at the time. Thanks anyway. You've given me plenty to explore. Can't wait! :D
